FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP: This interactive BASIC workshop will go into the fundamentals required of setting up. There will also be a discussion about (1) Starting up details (2) Understanding your customers (And how to reach out to them (3) Creating your website (4) Building your client base (5) Marketing fundamentals - online/ offline (6) Sourcing for products/Services

* Fundamentals of Starting up - Where to look to for help on Website-related issues? Biz registration? All other questions you might have Starting up!
* Business Processes Guide - Advice on accounting, taxation, resourcing, legal issues that you might face & how to tackle them.
* Identifying your Target Audience - Getting into the minds of your consumers, Understanding how to reach out to them, Learning how to build a relationship with your client
* Marketing your business - Promotional Techniques for small-sized businesses, Social Media for a small business
 * PR - strategies that smalll businesses can tap on media to grow

* Sourcing - where to start looking
* Distinguishing yourself as a MUMpreneur - how to make it work for you.

There will be lots of opportunities for Q&A and interactive dialogues to discuss your ideas/ challenges etc

** This workshop is kept small to ensure everyone gets a chance to learn as much as possible

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:   

null KAREEN LAI is a mother of twins and a Mumpreneur business owner who runs two different businesses. Kareen founded Mums In Sync (http://mumsinsync.com/) in 2013, which runs fitness and nutrition programmes to teach mothers how to love their bodies and get into tiptop shape to rock the world with renewed confidence. Because of the wonderful work she has done, she was awarded the Singapore Mumpreneur of the Year 2014.

She started her second business, Nuts About Butter (http://nutsaboutbutter.com/) which retails online and in physical shops in Singapore. Running both a product and a service-based business, Kareen will share her start-up story and also some of the solutions to possible challenges faced by small businesses, started from home.
 

SHER-LI TORREY  is the founder of Mums@Work since 2010. She also started a small business in 2006, which was a business school, providing language training to relocated assignees of corporations. The company was profitable in the 3 years of running. Besides Mums@Work, Sher-li is currently also running a product-based business online, Asia's Beauty Secrets (www.asiasbeautysecrets.com)  In addition, she also headed the career services team for postgraduate students in 2 local universities in Singapore. A mother herself, she has been training Mumpreneurs since 2010 - with more than 700 Mumpreneurs having gone through her workshops.  Sher-li is a trained career coach with certified training in MBTI and CareerLeader.  She is an alumni of the Business School at the National University of Singapore, where she obtained her Bachelor of Business (Marketing) degree. She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Adult training.
