Shakori Hills is for Families and Kids of All Ages
Festival has whole area for kids' activities, special tent for family-frendly performers, and a seperate area for young adults

Pittsboro, NC - The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance will hold its 15th annual spring festival from Thursday, May 4 to Sunday, May 7. The festival creates a family-friendly setting with many different options for activities, workshops and performances that are fit for any age. Plus, the admission of kids 12 and being free makes the event kind on parents' wallets. 

Near the center of the festival there is a Kid's Zone which includes interactive arts and crafts, story-telling, face painting, and the starting point of the Paperhand Puppet Intervention-led parade on Saturday afternoon. Older kids can explore the property while parents can spend time with the younger ones as they learn and play. 

Kids and family activities occur in and around the big, colorful Kids Tent and include:  Kids Rise 'n Shine Yoga, Early Morning Creative Centers, Face Painting, Giant Bubbles, Express Yourself! Areas, Kids' Arts & Crafts Market, Small Museum of Folk Art, Create a Mandala, Wonderful Worms with Grand Trees of Chatham, Children's Poi Workshops, "Treemendous" Trees, NC Coast-Seaside Workshop, Fossil Dig & Dino Bones, Macrame, and Tie-Dye

The Outpost is an area for older kids (ages 10-18) and is located away from the main kids area. Activities there include: Paper Marbling, Paper Bag Stars, Musical Hardware, Cinco de Mayo Crafts, Fantasy Bells, Improv/ Creative Dramatics, Mason Bee Condos, Tie-Dye, Sea Shell Pendants, Learn to Crochet, Boff Games, Teen Open Mic, Teen Dance Party, Tribal Games with Fuz, and an Acoustic Jam with the Fernandez Sisters.

Performances by Child and Family-Friendly musicians and performers will be featured in the Cabaret Tent, including : Carolina Pine Cones; Big Wonderful Variety Show; Sisters' Voices; Walker Street Fiddlers; Flamenco Carolina; Young performers: Presley Barker, Jacob Vaughan, and The Fernandez Sisters; Tanglewood Puppets; Imagine Circus; Casey's Laugh & Learn, and more.

4-day passes - $114 in advance (through May 1st) / $124 at gate
Youth (13-15) 4-day passes - $59 advance / $64 at gate
Kids 12 and under are FREE!
1-day passes - $32 (Thurs), $42 (Fri), $42 (Sat), and $32 (Sun) - all with $5 off if purchased in advance
Youth (13-15) 1-day - $16 (Thu), $21 (Fri), $21 (Sat), and $16 (Sun) - only at gate
Tent camping - $15 advance / $20 at gate
Vehicle camping - $86 advance / $94 at gate
RV camping - $125 advance / $135 at gate
