Dear Akiva Family,

Pesach is such an important time to share our beliefs, practices and customs with our children, friends and families. Our students have spent a significant amount of time preparing for Pesach and have lots of ideas and questions to share. Thank you so much to our dedicated teachers for their hard work in nurturing and encouraging our students to be ready for Pesach. I encourage families to take time to prepare for Pesach especially if you will be with other family and friends, and think about what are your goals and expectations for the sedorim are. Thank you to Rabbi Goldenberg for sharing the resource below which I think you might find helpful to prepare for a meaningful Pesach.

Wishing everyone a Chag Kasher Vesameach, a joyful and relaxing holiday.

Akiva Fundraiser
Dear Akiva families,

We are so excited to celebrate 36 years of excellence in Jewish education at Akiva Academy. We begin our patron campaign right after Pesach and culminate with a fun and entertaining evening to celebrate together with our parents, teachers, alumni and community supporters. We are recognizing 4 categories of the Akiva family that have been so integral to our success. Each of these categories will be represented by a family or individual. In order to ensure the success of the fundraiser, it is vital to have full participation of all families. Please encourage your friends and families to participate as well. If there is anyone who you think we should send an invitation to, please let the office know.

Thank you for your support.

Calgary Jewish Slo-Pitch - Registration Opens for 2017
Hey Everyone,

We are officially opening up registration for the 2017 Jewish Slo-Pitch season!

Registration
Consistent with previous years we will be charging a full season fee of $50 per participant and will not officially proceed with the season until we have received payment from at least 25 individuals. Our goal is to have a base of 25 people we can be counted on to regularly attend games. We are setting a deadline of April 13, 2017 at which point in time we will make a decision to proceed with the season or not. You can pay in cash or cheque to Bradley Libin or Tevie Lipton. Please be in touch to make arrangements. E-transfers are also accepted but should be directed only to Tevie Lipton ([email protected]). Please make your e-transfer password "slopitch".

Drop-In Fee
New this season we will allow players to pay a per game "drop-in fee". For those wishing to, they can pay $10 per game until they reach five games. At that point they are considered fully paid for the season. Every person will be required to pay before they can play a game. This new option will only be in addition to achieving the 25 minimum mentioned above.

Season Format
The season will run similar to last year. We will play pick-up style games every Thursday evening at 7pm starting in early May through the end of August. We plan to play at the same diamonds as last year (starting off at Currie and then moving to Glamorgan for August).

We are currently working hard to recruit many more players and would appreciate any help! Please feel free to forward this onto anyone who might be interested in playing. Our long term goal is to build up enough interest to establish a real league.

Regards,
The Organizing Committee
