Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

Here's a great resolution for the New Year - get out and see more theater!

There is nothing like a live performance to make lasting memories, and The Conquest of the South Pole
, our next show, is sure to be indelibly memorable.  In fact, we've never forgotten the performance we saw 25 years ago in Edinburgh (starring a then unknown Alan Cumming).  Now, at last, our dream has come true - we're presenting this dynamic show with a twist - the show is set in Rumford Maine!

Get your crampons on - join the expedition!

Sincerely,

Al D'Andrea, Artistic Director

The Conquest of the South Pole
is vivid, achingly alive theater!

Four unemployed Rumford Maine mill workers at the very edge of despair concoct an innovative way to empower themselves amidst the hardships of their lives.  Led by their magnetic leader Slupianek (Ian Carlsen), they reenact, in an attic crowded with discarded furniture and hanging sheets, Amundsen's successful conquest of the South Pole, in order to face, and hopefully conquer, their own demons.

Cast members Ashanti Williams, Ian Carlsen,
Eric Darrow Worthley, Cullen Burke

The Guardian called The Conquest of the South Pole a "vivid, achingly alive play," while The Chicago Critic described it as "a spirited, often funny journey of desperation with loads of heart...filled with humor, wit and a child-like playfulness."

The Conquest of the South Pole  will have seven performances:

Friday January 26 at 7:30 pm
Saturday January 27 at 7:30 pm
Sunday January 28 at 2:00 pm
Thursday February 1 at 7:30 pm
Friday February 2 at 7:30 pm
Saturday February 3 at 7:30 pm
Sunday February 4 at 2:00 pm
