Solar NEWS
We've got exciting news for commercial solar customers in Con Edison territory. A March ruling by the New York Public Service Commission's (PSC) will significantly boost the value of solar energy produced by a commercial rooftop system. The PSC has announced a new pricing structure for distributed energy (solar) resources, known as "Value Stack" -- a change that we estimate has the potential to increase the value of solar energy produced by a commercial rooftop system by anywhere from 30-50 percent.

"This is the best news we've seen for businesses looking to go solar and monetize their rooftop real estate," says Mr. Hertz. "Con Edison customers will now receive higher credits for the energy they produce, while the incentives in the area remain excellent, turning a good opportunity into a great one."   Read more.
It was a Sunny First Quarter for Sunrise Solar Solutions LLC
We're already having a phenomenal 2017 here at Sunrise Solar Solutions LLC. Check out three of our recent landmark achievements below:
  • Sunrise has completed the first Community Distributed Generation (CDG) solar energy system in the Hudson Valley -- a groundbreaking new system that creates the opportunity for dozens of residential customers throughout the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. territory to purchase solar energy under New York State's progressive new "shared solar" policies.

"For the first time, local business owners can offer the benefits of solar at competitive pricing to residents who otherwise would have no access to it, such as those living in apartments or shaded homes," says Sunrise president and CEO Douglas Hertz. "At the same time, those subscriptions increase the value of that commercial property for the business owner. We're proud that as the first completed CDG system in the Hudson Valley, our project will serve as the prototype that will pave the way for more businesses and residents to enjoy this new win-win model in the future."  Read more.

  • Sunrise has completed the largest residential solar energy installation in Westchester County. Scarborough Manor, a 205-unit cooperative residential complex in Ossining, N.Y., is now equipped to generate enough energy to power 25 percent of the co-op's projected electrical needs for its common areas. Those hefty utility savings, combined with current tax credits and incentives, create an exceptional value for the co-op; in fact, Scarborough Manor board president Gary Montesano estimates the net cost of solar for the complex at an astonishing 45 percent of the gross cost. "That's a phenomenal investment," Mr. Montesano says. Read more.
  • Sunrise has been selected for two more commercial Solarize campaigns in the latest round of competitive bidding, totaling a whopping nine residential and commercial Solarize programs in Westchester County, the Hudson Valley and Connecticut and the boroughs of New York City. Solarize is a town-supported program offering outreach and tiered pricing to promote widespread adoption of solar within the community. The selection process to become a Solarize installer is rigorous, requiring a thorough vetting by state and local agencies, a stellar reputation, demonstrated commitment to the community, and proof that the installer is dedicated to best practices -- and once again, Sunrise was chosen as the best installer for the job. As leaders of the solar industry in our region, we take every opportunity to get out in the community and educate the public about the latest developments in sustainable energy. We were thrilled to see the terrific turnout at our Sunrise Solar Solutions booth at the Westchester County Spring Home Show this March at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Residents from all over the Hudson Valley area stopped by to learn from our knowledgeable experts about the environmental and cost-saving benefits of solar energy.

Solar Success Story:
Absolute Coatings
Like many manufacturers, Absolute Coatings, a family-owned specialty coating business headquartered in New Rochelle, had a high electric bill. A Sunrise Solar Solutions analysis of the building, roof, and electric system revealed that a solar installation could bring about significant cost savings for the company. Our professional team worked together with the client to develop a staged plan to install solar while the roofs were being replaced.

The first 82KW (of the planned 200KW system) has now been installed, in conjunction with the fully warranteed new roofs -- and the client was happy to report an instantaneous effect on their bottom line. To learn more about the project, check out our case study for Absolute Coatings.
