Junior High Spirit Week
Each year, our junior high students participate in Spirit Week. This year's theme was "Reel Madness." Students were tasked with dressing up daily in different movie themes such as High School Musical and Toy Story for spirit points. Homeroom Olympics were held on Thursday where students competed with their homeroom in "Minute to Win It"-type games. Each event garnered homeroom teams spirit points. Finally, on Friday, the students were given materials to build a boat that must complete several tasks once in the pool. Mrs. Riley's class won the spirit award for the boat regatta, and the combined homeroom of Mr. Barstaad and Mrs. Villegas won the skill challenge of the boat regatta. After all the spirit points were tallied, Mr. Ickes' room came out the overall victors of Spirit Week.

Summer Programs Manager Wins Service Award!
Congratulations to our Fairmont Summer Programs Manager, Diana Huff, for winning a service award last week at the American Camp Association Spring Leadership Conference. Diana was not only honored for her service, but was also the conference's co-chair! Volunteering for the co-chair position requires a three year commitment and a lot of hard work, but Diana was up for the challenge! We are so very proud of all she does to make our summer programs spectacular for our students!

A Message From Fairmont's Transportation Manager
I, Diane Mayfield, Fairmont's Transportation Manager, would like to give a shout out to all of our California school bus drivers as Tuesday, April 25, is California School Bus Driver Day!

In appreciation of all the hard work our Fairmont school bus drivers do, I want to let them know how much they are appreciated by all of our Fairmont families!! Our drivers work hard keeping up on all school bus laws and regulations; they attend safety meetings, safety workshops, and they re-test with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) every five years. California school buses are the safest form of transportation and that comes from all the hard work our school bus drivers do.

Fairmont invites all students who ride the Fairmont bus, as well as their parents, to thank their bus drivers every day, but especially this Tuesday.

Summer Hosting Opportunities
This summer, Fairmont anticipates welcoming a record number of students from our Chinese and Korean partner schools. We are actively looking for Fairmont families willing to host these students. It is a wonderful opportunity for your family to learn about a different culture and share our own. The majority of the students will arrive in the beginning of July and depart at the end of the first week in August (tentatively July 1 to August 3).
These students are in high school and will attend school at Fairmont Preparatory Academy and will be able to take Fairmont t ransportation. We also have junior high students coming for one to two weeks who will also attend classes at Fairmont Prep.
In addition, we are expecting at least one group of  elementary students who will be at the Anaheim Hills
Campus. These students are expected to arrive in late July for two or three weeks. If you are interested in hosting, please contact Andrea Cribbs by email or phone at 714-234-2730. We invite you to attend an upcoming information night! The next one will be Tuesday, May 9, at 6:00 pm in the Historic Anaheim Campus library. RSVP today on our website!
Fit Fact:
Students who exercise report less stress, greater feelings of empowerment, and optimism about their ability to cope with daily tasks.

Husky Highlight
Homestay Huskies Visit UCI

Fairmont Prep Homestay Huskies experienced life as Honorary Anteaters as they zot zot zot'ed around University of California, Irvine (UCI) over spring break (apparently zot zot is the sound that Anteaters make!). UCI is one of the premiere computer science colleges in the world, so the students met with Professor Tanenbaum, who gave them a private tour of UCI's secret archive of video games.
What was everyone's favorite place on campus? The state-of-the-art gym, complete with four indoor basketball courts, a rock wall, and a heated pool. Our students wanted to stay and work out the rest of the day! Check out #HomestayHuskies on Instagram for more pictures from their events.
