The goal of the JCAC is to make court a safe environment for alleged victims, and create a supportive environment for alleged victims to receive additional services while waiting for court. At times, the role of the JCAC can create confusion and frustration for defense attorneys, who may feel they are being prevented from speaking with alleged victims. The aim of this tour and Q&A is to clarify what the roles and policies of the JCAC actually are, what they do and do not say to alleged victims, and how their role should be distinguished from other departments, such as the victim witness coordinators who represent the District Attorney's office.
Thanks to Ryan Davis for setting this up!
