NY State Budget Includes Medical School Scholarships for Students Underrepresented in Medicine
The state's $500,000 investment will support the creation of a new medical school scholarship program for 10 new students each year. The students will be selected from among AMSNY post-bac program graduates. The 25-year-old post-bac program, which is supported by the New York State Department of Health, has enabled 450 students from economically or educationally underserved areas to become doctors.

Weill Cornell Medicine: Celebrating a Record-Breaking Match
This year's match, announced March 17, was the largest on record, with 18,539 graduating allopathic medical students from across the country and an additional 15,943 graduating international and osteopathic medical students, as well as Americans studying abroad, all competing for some 31,000 residency positions, according to the National Resident Matching Program.

NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of '17 Meets Their Match

students finally met their match.
Around 12:30 p.m. that day, envelopes were ripped open and screams of delight were heard throughout the packed Camelot ballroom of the Swan Club in Roslyn, N.Y.

Einstein College of Medicine Class of 2017 Celebrates Match Day
Einstein fourth-year medical students whooped, cheered, and slapped high-fives as they celebrated another successful Match Day. The noontime ceremony marked the all-important "Match"-when graduating medical students learned where they will begin the next phase of their education, transitioning to resident physicians at hospitals across the country.

Fourth-year students at SUNY Downstate Medical Center's College of Medicine had a strong showing on Match Day on March 17, the annual event at which future physicians learn where they will spend the next three to seven years receiving advanced medical training.

Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons: 2017 Marks a Century of Co-Ed Medical Education at P&S
In 1917, as she neared graduation from Barnard College, a student named Gulli Lindh started a campaign to be the first woman admitted to P&S. Growing up in Sweden, Ms. Lindh had always wanted to become a doctor, and she carried that dream with her to the United States when she moved in 1914. With the help of Barnard Dean Virginia Gildersleeve, Ms. Lindh began putting gentle but constant pressure on P&S Dean Samuel Lambert.
