MESSAGE FROM MY TEACHER, DR. ROGER JAHNKE

WHEN JESUS, BORN AGAIN TODAY, came to represent the rebirth, within oneself, of Universal Spirit Embodied - it was a Solstice and stars and planets aligned to create an auspicious bright star. There were no shopping centers and the moment was rich to support the birth of a beautiful Qigong story. Jesus learned to cultivate energy - Qi or the Breath of the Universal God. He also practiced something like Tai Chi, or at least was portrayed in a Tai Chi posture.

OPPORTUNITY FOR EXPERIENCE

Some of you are aware of Christian Brothers Academy administered by the De La Salle Brothers in Lincroft, New Jersey.  On the grounds of the Academy they also have a Nursing home for their brothers.  I was speaking to Brother John McMahon not too long ago, who is on the staff there. We had a common interest in Reiki and he asked me if any of my past students would be interested in offering Reiki to the brothers who are at the Home.  I said I would share this invitation with you.  It is a good opportunity for those of you looking for experience (and you would be in a friendly and appreciative atmosphere).

So if you feel drawn to find out more about this, set up an interview with Brother John.  He can be reached at
732-580-2361.

LISTEN TO A LIVE TELECAST OF AN INTERVIEW
WITH KATHLEEN PRASAD ON FACEBOOK

Want to learn more about the depths of healing that Reiki can create for your animals and  experience the healing of Animal Reiki Meditation? Just a few days ago, I had the fun experience of doing a Facebook live with my friend Amanda Ree of  Sama Dog , a bright and beautiful kindred spirit and healing light for animals. In case you missed it, you can watch the replay.  We talked about Reiki for animals, and I also led a peaceful animal Reiki meditation for healing you and the animals you love.

Shinpiden is the Japanese word for 'mystery teachings'. It is aimed at Level II practitioners or established Reiki Teachers who wish to continue their personal journey, a journey that is ongoing long after you complete the Shinpiden course. It is therefore not just about teaching and is even suitable for those who wish to simply develop their personal Reiki practise and occasionally teach those around them.

Self-empowerment is attained in Shinpiden through a strong energetic connection to the source of Reiki. It is also the result of the confidence you will feel as a result of your thorough knowledge of Reiki - how it works, what all the variations on Reiki actually are, where Reiki stands in the world today, the Japanese shirusi (symbols) and jumon (mantras) and their connection to Japanese philosophies and what the origin of Reiki's spiritual nature is.

One of the major focuses of this course is to tap into the sense that you are, and always were, a great, bright light - this is achieved by working with the fourth shirushi and jumon.

The Power of Qi: Accessing Your Life-Force Energy

There are numerous practices that help you attune your awareness so you can discover the subtle energy of Qi-the energy of your life force. One of the most ancient is Yi Quan, a foundation method for cultivating Qi and accessing benefits for mind, body, and spirit.

Yi Quan means "mind skill" or "mind boxing," as you must "box" with the mind to get it to quiet.
Yi Quan standing meditation benefits your posture and balance, increases inner body
 awareness, and builds stamina.

While outwardly there is no movement, inwardly the deep relaxation of the Qigong state triggers both physiological and psychological benefits. It strengthens the mind-body connection, reduces stress, promotes serenity, and improves circulation, enhancing your overall health.

Yi Quan Standing Meditation

1. Begin by aligning your body in Mountain Pose (Tadasana) with your feet hip-width apart. When you initiate your practice-whether it's Qigong, Tai Chi, or yoga-by creating conscious alignment, it sets the tone and intention for your experience.

2. Stand with your shoulders relaxed, arms at your sides. Knees are slightly bent, the bowl of the pelvis is upright, and the head balances gently on top of the spine and shoulders.

3. Imagine that, as you stand in Tadasana, you are opening to the influences of Heaven, pouring down through you like a healing waterfall while the grounding influences of Earth rise through your feet.

4. Don't try to  do anything during this practice. Just notice what you feel in your body without creating thoughts or judgments. If you start to feel uncomfortable, focus on your area of discomfort and adjust your posture, moving gently and breathing easily. Be aware of your attitude toward your practice and your body, and treat your body with loving-kindness.
The Tao Te Ching says, "Like a lake, the heart must be calm and quiet, having great depth beneath it." Yi Quan practice calms the heart as well as the mind and allows you to create and cultivate inner stillness.

Start with five minutes of Yi Quan practice a day, and build your endurance gradually. You might notice that your body begins to move spontaneously while doing this standing meditation practice. Allow the spaciousness of the sky and the solidity of the earth to meet within you, creating a powerful charge of life force that allows the body to release and dissolve any tension that arises.
