IMPROVATHON 2017
What it is an IMPROVATHON? It is 50 straight hours of improv comedy and funkiest fundraiser you will ever experience.
From 7:00 pm Friday, April 21st, to Sunday night, April 23rd Unexpected Productions hosts an improv mega-show! 50 hours of non-stop improv excitement...all day and all night.. Please join us for part, or ALL of the 50 hours.

Audience members who make it through the entire Improvathon will receive a lifetime pass to see any Unexpected Productions show! 

There are incredibly different shows, formats and special guests, all comically improvised to keep you entertained for 50 hours! There are 100s of cool and unusual action times. We haven't held a 50 hour Improvathon in five years.

WHY WOULD WE DO THIS?
Are we insane?... maybe a little! Last year were renovated for sound proofing in the theater, have a new lighting system, but we still need to finish the final renovations of the bathroom (you have seen them right?) and upgrade our ancient sound system. We are improving the theater for our 30,000 audience members who trust us to make them laugh.

We are committed to provide our audience members with a 5-star experience at UP Improv. We strive to provide quality improvisational storytelling at a reasonable price. Our tickets range from $5 to $15. Governmental support represents only 0.2% of our operating expenses.

Because of our low prices it makes it difficult to make improvements. We are asking you to help us finish renovating the bathrooms. The cost is $30,000. We have been able to redo most plumbing, now we need to finish the cosmetics.

We kick off the Improvathon with an evening of spontaneous theater that mixes the shorter games associated with Theatresports with an edgier, story based long form comedy! Improv Happy Hour is a sampler of several styles of improv all packed into one show, from movie, literature, or play genres to experimental and risky comical improv forms! All content is based on audience suggestions so expect unexpected fun!

Move over Hamilton. We promise plenty of on-stage panache as you and your fellow audience members are invited to cast, choreograph, write, direct and produce a variety of scenes, ably aided by a talented and incredibly versatile cast of Seattle's finest improvisers. Then sit back and watch as those scenes are seamlessly -- and hilariously -- turned into a full-length musical on stage.. Each performance boasts an entirely new production made up right on the spot, complete with song, dance and story, for an ever-changing, always-entertaining night of comedy.

Seattle's longest-running show, Unexpected Productions' Theatresports is among the best improv the northwest has to offer. At Theatresports, teams of veteran improvisational actors create quick scenes on the spot, based entirely on audience suggestions, and are then scored by a panel of judges based on technical skill and entertainment.

Stand-up comedy and improv are usually two separate types of comedy that you won't see in the same show, but Unexpected Productions' Piggyback brings them both together so you can enjoy two types of comedy in one hilarious night.  First, a professional comedian will perform their stand-up routine, then talented improv artists will create a narrative story in a particular genre of film or literature. The story created will be inspired by the material from the stand-up act.  Headliner: Keith Lowery
