April 2017

Welcome to my first Tri-Talking with TO of 2017! There's quite a bit to catch up on. Rinny and I started the year as we typically do in Noosa, but this year added an exciting twist as we enjoyed the first trimester of Baby O'Donnell. Rinny dialed back her activity, and I found renewed purpose in my training as I will be the sole competitor representing the Carfrae-O'Donnell household this year. Our friends, followers, and sponsors have been terrifically supportive.

I am very pleased to announce that I have joined the HOKA team, representing a line of shoes with a model for everyone - from pros who use a light responsive shoe to athletes who are running pain free again because of HOKA.

I am off to a solid start in 2017 with second place finishes in Mooloolaba, IRONMAN 70.3 Taiwan, and IRONMAN 70.3 Texas and excited to announce I'll be racing my summer Ironman at home with IRONMAN Boulder!

I hope your year is off to a solid and exciting start too! Thanks for following along with me in this new year of racing, and new year of changes!

Coming August 2017!
Baby O'Donnell due August 10!

Thank you to everyone who has sent good wishes to Rinny and me! We are looking forward to our new entrant in the 0-4 age group and currently wind-tunnel testing baby strollers ;-)

A minute faster on the bike and 35 seconds faster on the run then when I won here in 2015.

I was stoked to have the fastest bike split of the day on my Stars and Stripes  Trek Speed Concept and the 2nd fastest run with my  HOKA One One  Tracers!

IRONMAN 70.3 Taiwan

All in all a solid way to kick off the early season after a few weeks of great training in Australia.

Solo off the front all day, only to be passed in the last mile...my next training block will have to be all about "closing the deal!"

Decide what you want to be, pay the price and be what you want to be.

Best mantra you use when racing
Don't give up the ship.

Don't rush into Ironman racing, build in from Olympic to half to full Ironmans

HOKA One One

HOKA is excited to welcome IRONMAN World Championship podium finisher Tim O'Donnell to the team. "I left my career as a Naval Officer to pursue a career in triathlon. I hadn't won any big races and few around me could imagine my success in the sport. On top of the tough road ahead in triathlon I was leaving a strong career, which brought concern from friends and family. Something in me told me I had the ability and I just needed to take the chance. I decided to bet on myself and go for it and I haven't looked back!"

I'm very proud to be part of Team HOKA One One. Light, responsive, comfortable, and a great energy return - the shoes deliver! Experience it for yourself!
