Worship with Us this Week!
Join us this Sunday for our 9:30am Traditional Worship Service and/or Informal Worship Service at 11am. Our scriptures at 9:30am  are Psalm 16 and John 20:19-31 where the disciples are gathered together in a Iocked room because they are afraid. The sermon is entitled It's Still Easter!

It's a Baby Shower! 4/23
Sue Stolze, Gloria Wandless,, and Gerry Rogers are co hosting a baby shower for Messeret (Sera) Watkins, to celebrate the upcoming birth of baby Wyatt!
 
The shower will be held on Sunday April 23, in the Heritage Room, from 12:30 until 3 PM.  This will be an informal potluck lunch, meat provided.. with lots of food, fellowship a few games, and of course gifts for baby Wyatt  Messeret is registered at Walmart and Target.

Prayer Updates
Skyler Brussee - just hired to be the music teacher for  K-8 music kids with special needs at the Litzinger School (Special School District).

Nancy Brown - rehab at Mason Pointe after recent hospitalization.

Andrea Barnes - at River Oaks Hospital Trauma Unit; 1525 River Oaks Road West; New Orleans, LA 70123 for more support and healing from PTSD.

Georgia Herpel - recent medical diagnosis of Autoimmune Encephalitis; settling into an assisted living apartment nearby.

The Family of Afton Bailey - long-time member of PUCC who moved several years ago - as they grieve and give thanks. Her memorial service will in our Historic Sanctuary on Saturday, May 6 at 11am.
 
The Family of Cliff Hungerford - as they grieve and give thanks for him... strength for his wife Jan and their children...and all the members/friends of St  John UCC in Chesterfield.

Tuesday Evening Dialogue: New Book Starts May 9
2nd & 4th Tuesdays | 6:00-8:30pm | Heritage Room | Potluck & Discussion

The Tuesday Evening Dialogue (TED) book club will finish discussing The 100 Year Old Man Who Went Out a Window at our next gathering, April 25. T hen starting May 9 we will take up a new book-the compelling true story by Bryan Stevenson - Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. Bryan Stevenson is the executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, and a professor of law at New York University Law School. He has won relief for dozens of condemned prisoners, argued five times before the Supreme Court, and won national acclaim for his work challenging bias against the poor and people of color. He has received numerous awards, including the MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant.

Bricks for Sale 
Have you had a chance to enjoy looking at all the personalized bricks which edge the entrance to our church? We currently have 80 engraved bricks installed, but we have allowed space for many more to be added to the pathway. Please consider ordering a brick and being part of this wonderful way to support Parkway UCC, both financially and by showing our love and commitment to our church. Share God's love and compassion with our community through our fifth annual JHLTB! Worship at PUCC at  10:00am , then live out our mission in a day of service. Wear your PUCC t-shirt or another red shirt  if possible.

Mission Trip to Back Bay Mission, Biloxi, Mississippi
Parkway has a reservation for  the dates of Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, 2017 for 2-12 people,  The group's $200 registration fee was sent in by Pastor Kevin several months ago.  Typically, work will include electrical / plumbing (assisting local contractors), carpentry, insulation, drywall, painting, roofing, flooring, deck building and some demolition.  All skill levels are welcome, but they recommend that some of the group have a moderate to high levels of construction skills.  We will be responsible for our own food, so there is an opportunity for a cook to come along.  Youth 14-17 are allowed with adult supervision.  The work seek is typically 8-4, M-F.   We usually take an afternoon off from work to sight see, probably a trip to New Orleans.   Participants will each need to supply $75 lodging + $100 materials per person for the week.  More information is available at thebackbaymission.org
