Ridesharing Bill Passes Senate on Way to Governor Scott

The Florida Senate passed legislation that will allow for statewide regulation of ridesharing.  The same bill passed the Florida House earlier this legislative session.  Statewide regulation has been a top priority for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce for the past several years, and the Chamber applauds the Senate and House for passing the legislation. The bill was sponsored by three Tampa Bay legislators, Senator Jeff Brandes, Representative Chris Sprowls and Representative Jamie Grant.  Other members of the Bay Area Legislative Delegation recognized the importance of the bill to Tampa Bay and supported the legislation.

Chamber in Tallahassee

Chamber members were in Tallahassee this week to meet with members of the Hillsborough Legislative Delegation and to discuss the Chamber's legislative priorities. During the trip, the Chamber was able to meet with a majority of the delegation to discuss many issues, including funding for Moffitt Cancer Center and continued funding for the USF Morsani Medical School downtown campus, and to personally thank legislators for their leadership in passing the ridesharing bill.

With two weeks left in the 2017 Session, the Chamber will continue to monitor legislation and appropriations requests that are important to Tampa Bay.
