Track Tuesdays
Aquinas Catholic Track season is in full swing . You can find the entire track schedule here. Results for the Shelby Tri. (Mar. 21) here. Results for Scotus Relays (Mar. 28) here. On April 4th, the Monarchs swept the Monarch Invitational . Best of luck the rest of the season!


Faith & Service
Super Stations
On Holy Thursday, Aquinas Catholic participated in the Stations of the Cross with special additions of music and video clips from the movie, "The Passion". These Super Stations are held in the North Gym and a few students from each grade are chosen to participate. Thank you to all who planned and participated in reminding us all that Jesus suffered and died a horrific death for our sins .
Christ became obedient, to the point of death; even death on a cross.
Aquinas Senior Retreat 
Many seniors have begun a countdown to Graduation (May 21st at 4:30pm). Graduation is not the end, but beginning to fulfill God's purpose. Aquinas Seniors were led in a day long retreat by Mr. Smith, Fr. Holdren, Sr. Ann Marie, and Sr. Karen Marie on March 15th. They were blessed to have a FOCUS Missionary speak as well as Aquinas Alumni, Emily Byers & Conner Kranda. 
Academics
Science Research at NJAS & GNCEF
Mr. Emory's Science Research Class: Emily Dalton, Claire Fiala, and Daniel Stara (on right) participated in the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science (NJAS) Regional Science Fair at Wesleyan University on March 7th. Daniel Stara received 5th Place and has made it to State on April 20th.

Daniel's previous science research project was testing possible materials for football helmets, which would prevent head injuries. That project was one of the top seven at the 2016 State NJAS Fair, this allowed him to attend the NAAS/NJAS National Convention in Boston during February. You can read the Banner Press article here.

Quiz Bowl Runner-ups
Before getting ready for the Aquinas Prom, on March 25th, Aquinas Senior Quiz Bowl Team got 2nd Place at the David City Quiz Bowl Invite. This Invitational had a total of 22 teams competing.

MS Academic Mini-Courses
The annual MS Mini-Courses were held on March 17th. These mini-courses give students a glimpse of career choices and lifelong skills. Read the entire article and see more pictures here.  

Nebraska State FFA Convention
Congratulation to all David City FFA State Participants on April 5-7th in Lincoln. Many participants did very well. You can find all of the results here. The David City FFA Floriculture Team were State Runner-Ups!

The Arts
State Speech Qualifiers
Cody Hein,  Isaac Archuleta,  Kael Jakub, Dawson Schawang, and Nathan Uhrmacher were Runners-up in District O.I.D. and Nathan Uhrmacher was also the bronze medalist in Entertainment. Congratulations to the entire speech team on a wonderful year. Aquinas Speech Coach, Mr. Grady, said
"Remember that you are never defined by your ballots, and you are certainly not just numbers in a computer."
MS Malcolm Music Contest

Musicians participated in the Malcolm Music Contest on March 16th.

"Once Upon a Mattress" had 3 outstanding performances and 2 delicious dinner theaters

Spring Program
DARE Graduates
St. Mary's 5th Graders graduated from the DARE Program after 9 weeks of education, provided by The Butler County Sheriff's Office. Primary instructor, Deputy Tara Korthals, emphasized that the DARE Program teaches students how to make good and safe decisions. Congratulations!
