January Issue
Pastoral Perspective

As the new year begins, consider increasing the amount of time you spend studying the Bible. An extra 20 minutes everyday could make a huge difference in your personal life. It’s a common mistake to underestimate the word of God. Deuteronomy 8:3b says, “Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”(ESV) Consider the scale and scope - God’s word is vastly important and preeminent.

God has a plan for your life. St. Augustine said, “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.” Understanding God’s plan for your life also requires study of His word. How will you understand the challenges of life without knowing God’s word? Romans 8:28b, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,.”(ESV)

Consider, then, your time in the word. It is a commitment you cannot afford not to make.
