WHAT WE'VE DONE
Four juried young artist competitions (2008, 2011, 2013, 2016) in collaboration with Museo Estatal de Arte Popular Oaxaca (MEAPO, Oaxaca's State Museum of Popular Art)
Following each competition, exhibitions of the outstanding works of winners and recipients of honorable mention in six categories of folk art
Creation of four accompanying full-color catalogues that enhance artists' self-image and enable collectors to learn about and purchase from them
Workshops and courses for young Oaxacan artists in Oaxacan and Mexican art history, English, marketing, computer skills, and sustainable design
Cultural exchange visits by Oaxacan artists who share artistic techniques and indigenous customs with New York metropolitan area school children and provide educational programs for interested adults
Annual holiday folk art sales in the New York metropolitan area
Special projects in Oaxaca, e.g., providing Oaxacan artists with corrective lenses, sponsoring village folk art markets and a ceramics contest for children under 12 in San Bartolo Coyotepec
STILL TO COME IN 2017
Through the end of May, 2017: Exhibition "Honoring Our Roots, Exploring Our Dreams" (pieces by winners and recipients of honorable mention in FOFA/MEAPO's July, 2016 young artists competition) is on display at Museo Estatal de Arte Popular Oaxaca (MEAPO) in San Bartolo Coyotepec;
July 15th, 2017: Inauguration of this exhibition in a gallery of the Alfredo Harp Helu Foundation in Oaxaca City and presentation of the catalogue;
July 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st and October 27th, 28th and 29th - in collaboration with the Alfredo Harp Helu Foundation -- ExpoVentas at San Pablo in Oaxaca for the 60 artists in this exhibit;
Marketing workshops to enhance the professionalism and success of these artists in displaying and selling their works in ExpoVentas and beyond;
November 17th, 2017: FOFA's 10th Anniversary Celebration in New York City (details to follow) featuring a visiting Oaxacan artist
Launching of FOFA's entirely new website featuring 145 FOFA contest winners, as well as Oaxacan folk art masters
