Our Mission
"The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce exists to advance the prosperity and well-being of the business community, particularly its members, with a goal of improving the quality of life in this community."

Paula's Ponderings
Hello Chamber Members,

We appreciate your support in our work on behalf of the business community. It is through your investment in us and your work on Chamber committees that we progress.

Beyond your membership investment, our budget is built through fundraisers like our Annual Celebration and our Golf Tournament.  This year, we are adding an additional fundraiser - the Chamber Steel Challenge competition, presented by Bluegrass Hearing Clinic.  We hope you will join us for a morning of friendly competition, food, and fun. It will be held the  May 6. (Yes, it's Derby Day but you will be done before the race!)   Volunteers are needed to help with many aspects of the day, including scoring. Please contact Paula at 859-236-2361, ext. 121 if you can help.

A steel challenge is shooting competition where you shoot steel targets. There will be 5 stations of 5 steel targets that each participant will shoot. Each participant will shoot 2 rounds per target. You will have 2 attempts at each stage, and we will count the best score from each. Scoring is based on both speed and accuracy. The goal is to hit each target twice, as quickly as possible.

Each participant will be shooting .22 caliber weapons. You will need to bring a .22 pistol that holds at least 10 rounds, 100 rounds of ammunition, and a case for your weapon. We will have ammunition available for sale if you need it. We will have the small foam earplugs available for our shooters, but if you have your own hearing and eye protection, you should bring that as well. Sunglasses and prescription glasses are acceptable forms of eye-pro. For the safety of all participants, each weapon will need to be in a case when you are not shooting and moving from station to station.  When it is your turn to shoot, there will be a table at the station for you to safely uncase your weapon and get ready to shoot.

To enhance the fun and competition of the shoot, you will be going through the stations with a 4-man team.  Your team cost is $200 which will include a continental breakfast, a box lunch, a t-shirt, and entry into the competition. While each individual will be scored separately, your team score will be the one in the rankings.

To see all the additional information on the Shoot, please click on the information in the box below for Frequently Asked Questions and the Registration form. Thank you to our other sponsors: Danville Eye Center, Paps Foods, Blue Moon Insurance Agency, The Spine Center,  Bob Allen Motor Mall; State Farm Insurance - Bob Miller, Agent; Tye Financial  Group; and Doss & Horky.

We hope you will field a team and join us for our fundraiser that underwrites our budget and allows us to continue serving our businesses and community.

Sincerely,

National Small Business Week, April 30 - May 6
Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners.

A small business is defined as a business (corporation, limited liability company or proprietorship) with 500 employees or less. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), small businesses represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms. Since 1995, small businesses have generated 64 percent of new jobs, and paid 44 percent of the total United States private payroll, according to the SBA.
More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce wants to take the opportunity to thank the entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others who are in the trenches building your company every day. Our business owners work to grow small businesses, create 21st century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America's global competitiveness.  We salute your hard work, perseverance  and dedication.
