Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center to conduct needs assessment

In order to deliver training courses that are relevant and useful to the Public Health Workforce in its region, the Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center conducts periodic needs assessments. These needs assessments are designed to identify training topics from among the broad array of possible public health topics and disciplines, as well as identifying logistic characteristics of users' experiences, such as the type of electronic device they use to access online trainings. The Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center will be conducting a formal needs assessment within the next couple of months. We are interested in gathering feedback from all levels of public health employees, from field practitioners, to management, to upper level executives. We would also like to have representation from all ranges of experience, from new public health employees with less than a year of experience, to those with several decades in public health work. Additionally, we would like to have representation from each of the five states in region 6 (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas). The needs assessment tool will be available online and a link will be provided in an upcoming newsletter. Please be on the lookout for it! Your participation in this needs assessment is greatly appreciated and will help to define the public health training agenda for the R6-SCPHTC in the near-term future.

The Data into Action for Tribes course bundle is designed to provide general guidance and understanding to increase the knowledge among tribal health departments of how to access available data from federal, state, and local resources for program planning surveillance, and data use.
 
The courses included in this course bundle will cover several topics related to data, including an overview of epidemiology, sources of publicly-available data, conducting assessments and writing reports, and the use of Geographical Information Systems and behavioral health.

Environmental Public Health Online Courses (EPHOC)

The Environmental Public Health Online Courses (EPHOC) bundle is a comprehensive package of courses for environmental public health practitioners. The 15 courses are taught by experts in their field and include information on various roles and responsibilities of environmental public health staff. Target audiences include: new-hire environmental public health professionals, individuals preparing for a state or national credential exam, environmental health students and environmental public health professionals wanting to improve their technical knowledge. This bundle of courses is designed to be used as a study guide for the  National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) exam. At this time there isn't an official certificate awarded for completing all 15 courses.
