City of Queen Anne's Lace
Wasserman Projects is pleased to present the exhibition "City of Queen Anne's Lace". Cuban artists Alejandro Campins and José Yaque capture the energy of Detroit's bustling metropolitan past and the aura of the city's hopeful future. Curated by Rafael DiazCasas, an art historian and independent curator based in New York City, the exhibition explores the parallels between Detroit's rise and fall as a major industrial and cultural hub and the impact of political upheaval during the same period on Cuba's own growth and development.

Cass Corridor, Connecting Times: Michael Luchs
Simone DeSousa Gallery is pleased to present Cass Corridor: Connecting Times, a series of exhibitions of past Cass Corridor artists curated by Nancy Mitchnick. The project opens on Friday, April 21, with a solo exhibition of works by Michael Luchs, including paintings, works on paper, and models, from 1990 to 2016. From the mid sixties through the late seventies, Cass Corridor was the home of an art community that at the time was regarded as Detroit's avant-garde, a counter-culture art movement shaped by the anxieties of the city-poverty, race, the Viet Nam war, industrial decline-and the optimism of new life styles, protests, music, and art.

Undercover Bosses
Reyes Projects is proud to announce its first exhibition, Undercover Boss, opening April 21, 2017 with a public reception (6-8pm) and remaining on view until May 26, 2017. The exhibition features the work of Tony Cox, Greg Fadell, Sadie Laska, Jane Moseley, Jonathan Rajewski, Scott Reeder, Tyson Reeder, and Joe Roberts. Developed in concert by Founder Terese Reyes with artist Scott Reeder, themes to be explored in Undercover Boss: surveillance, labor, privacy, oversharing on social media, the unobtainable balance between work and life, mistaken identity.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Wavefunction, Subsculpture 9
Wavefunction, Subsculpture 9, by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, is a kinetic sculpture and interactive installation that plays on the work of mid-century American designers Charles and Ray Eames. The installation consists of 42 molded plastic chairs (designed by the Eameses in 1948) arranged in a grid and attached to electromechanical pistons.

The Returning: New Works by Molly Diana
On April 22th, Corktown Studios welcomes a solo exhibition by artist Molly Diana. The exhibition will be open to the public during the reception for the artist, which runs from 6pm-9pm. Molly Diana is an artist and art therapist, teaching at the College for Creative Studies and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Her work as a whole represents an ongoing dialogue of transformation, informed by multi-dimensional symbolism and the inter-relational awakenings of awareness and shared experience.
