Grace Based Education
A post from October, 2014 by Tim Visser, Administrator
I get a kick out of all the changes education standards and curriculum have enjoyed over the years. We have gone from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) to SmarterBalanced. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is now STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). High school graduation requirements have grown from 18 to 24 credits. All of these tweaks are interesting, but they fail to address two fundamental questions: what is the end goal of education and how do these changes meet that goal?
Student Guides Bake Sale - April 21
This week, on Friday, April 21, the Elementary Student Guides will host a Bake Sale for elementary, junior high, and high school students.  Money is being raised to buy a memorial plaque for our playground bench in honor of Mrs. Kamerman/Colon.  Any extra money raised will be donated to the Water Tanks for Kenya project, WEI, Women's Enterprises International.  Students bring your money to support these causes.

Dennis Roosendaal Scholarship
In 2004, the Shoreline Christian School Board established a scholarship fund to honor the years of service that Dennis Roosendaal offered to God through his work at Shoreline Christian School.  In recognition of his servant's heart and love of science and math, the School Board has directed that this scholarship be offered to one graduating senior who has demonstrated the importance of service to others and to God.  The graduating senior must also demonstrate the intention to pursue a college major in math or science.  This is a one-time scholarship of $500 to be paid to the college in which the graduate attends the following school year.

If you are interested in being considered for this scholarship, please complete the application (located in Mrs. Grafmiller's office) and return it to Mrs. Grafmiller by Friday, April 28, 2017.  Mr. Visser and Mrs. Grafmiller will review the applications and they will be presented to the School Board during their May 8th board meeting.  The recipient of this scholarship will be announced at Honors Night on June 1st.
