JANUARY 2018
The New Year is upon us!  So often we have heard the expression:  "Resolutions are made to be broken."  When we say that what usually happens is that we break those resolutions or do not even bother to make any.  I want to challenge you this year to consider making what I call a "Quality Decision."  A Quality Decision is a decision that you make that you don't go back on.  If you do break the decision, then make it again.  Our God is the God of the "do over."  My prayer is for all of you to have a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

As we welcome in 2018, I just want to take the opportunity to let you, my church family, know how thankful I am for each and everyone of you.  Your smiles, your hugs, your words of kindness and encouragement have always been right when I needed them.  Thank you for supporting me as I finished up my undergraduate work this past year and continuing to do as I work towards my Masters of Divinity in Worship and Pastoral Counseling.

I am so blessed!

I am also very privileged to have such dedicated and talented individuals who help to lead worship with me every week.  They give of their time and their talents so freely.  These musicians, singers, and all the "behind the scene," people work hard every week to help each one of us engage with our beautiful Savior in worship.  Our entire church staff and all those in leadership positions here at Hillsboro also are a joy to work with and each one is committed to seeing God being glorified in and through them as His kingdom is advanced both locally and globally.  We are so blessed!

Whatever 2018 has in store for us, we are in the hands of our good Father who loves us beyond measure!  The Psalmist says, "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!"  (Psalm 34:8)

May our eyes continually be open to see His love, goodness and faithfulness in this new year.

Happy New Year!!!

Warmly,
Donna

YOUTH (AGES 12-18)

In the world we live in today, it's often difficult to believe that God could care about the things that happen in our ordinary lives.  We often think of God as distant or removed.  Yet,the Christmas story stands as a testament that where God chooses to live is in ordinary lives, in everyday places.

The youth of Hillsboro have been learning how to be the hands and feet for Christ.  We are realizing that God can use an ordinary teen to impact others for His glory.  This month we focused on blessing the children at the UVA Children's Hospital.  We spent the last several weeks baking cookies and packaging gifts for the children that will not be able to go home for Christmas.  I'm so grateful for what God is doing in and through each teen.  We firmly believe that each teen has a valuable part to play in the church, community and world.  What a blessing it is to see them impacting other children and teens.

Thank you for your love, prayers and support as the teens continue to grow in their walk with the Lord.  Your prayers are not only touching the teens at Hillsboro, but also the children at UVA.  Your support, prayers and every moment spent in service is important and is used by God to transform lives for eternity and to ultimately bring more glory to Him.

December was a VERY busy month for us.  We not only worked on our UVA project, but also enjoyed a huge Christmas pizza party with a campfire, roasting marshmallows, and teens playing/singing worship around the fire.  We had lots of fun games and also enjoyed a "white elephant" gift exchange.  Our mission and our goal is to reach others with the Gospel of Christ.  We have enjoyed seeing lots of new faces at youth group and welcoming them in with open arms.  God has been so good to us, and we cannot wait to see what He is going to do in 2018!

Blessings,
Brittany
