Bits and Pieces
April 18, 2017

Poor Emi.  Poor, poor Emi!  To be so little and have gone through such trauma last week....It started off simple enough:  a spay on a two year old.  Then Dr. decided to fix the small hernia she had while under anesthesia.  Ok, good.  Then they found her back teeth needed cleaning even though the front ones were good.  Then, however, they found that she had six teeth missing.  They needed xrays to determine if they just never developed or were impacted, requiring more surgery.  Every time the phone rang, my stomach turned just a little more.  But...all went well, the teeth never came in because her mouth is so small, and all procedures were done at the same time!  Hooray!!!  But she's had a rough recovery, and has been at home this past week.  But I expect to be able to have my office buddy back with me next week.

One great tip I want to pass along.  Emi being Emi, I knew she would need an E-collar (short for Elizabethan collar, so you get the picture) and that they are just awful to deal with.  The vet's solution was to put her in little onesie-baby t-shirts.  Head and front legs go in as normal, then bring the shirt, unsnapped, down over the suture areas, and snap it off to one side of her rear legs, so all bottom area is exposed for necessary purposes.  Bunch the excess shirt and tuck it under!  Slick as a whistle, and cute to boot!  She's such a dirt-ball that I need to change it at least once a day, but the other kids leave the shirt alone.  Except the one time Katie managed to get Emi's head and front legs out of the t-shirt and just leave her middle covered.  Can't quite figure out how she did that, but considering it was Katie as the perp. I can only guess.  So Emi Lee will be back in the shop next week for your viewing pleasure!

Also next week will be all our regular classes, so I want to "briefly" enlighten you to some new things.  Remember that our custom all wood furniture is at special prices only through May, so check these out ASAP.  More really good news:  if you've tried Angle Play with Mary and felt discouraged about all those partial triangles cut from the original templates, we have a new and great solution.....Off The Wall Quilts, due to Mary's and her class's input , has developed new, specific templates for the side and bias triangles for A, B, C and D!!!  Big difference for you in cutting; come to class and see!  As always, Mary is offering you the opportunity to borrow the templates in class so you can decide how much you like using them.  Where else can you "try before you buy"???  Well,  except with our BERNINAs, that is!  Join us and see.  Cl;ass is on the 17th.

Remember to sign up for CI Tammy Doane's Judy Niemeyer paper piecing entire camp or individual days of the camp.  Dates are 5-24 through 27 for the camp classes.  Work on any pattern of Judy's you want; finish one you've already begun, or start one of the new patterns.  Allow for time before camp to select your fabrics, and bring your supplies from the list.  Those of you who have been taking Mary's Intermediate paper piecing class or who are completing the beginner's class with Mary  may find this to be a golden opportunity!

FYI-we are awaiting potential dates from Claudia Dinnell, creator of Claudia's Creations,  to be able to offer you a two-day camp with Claudia making her newest creation of embroidery.  Claudia has a huge following, and a very busy schedule, so we are going to work around her open dates but will schedule ASAP.  We know you embroiderers out there will be chomping at the bit for this camp!!!  Project pics, dates, cost to follow.  If days of the week don't matter to you, get your name on the sign up sheet now!

New fabrics come in weekly, and,  as in Murphy's Law, they generally all arrive on the same day, so stop by often.  We try to showcase some of the new ones in each newsletter for you.  Plus, FYI, we've reduced prices on some of our fabrics to keep things interesting for you and shopping with us.  Latest ones:  Moda!  And we have our sale fabrics at just $6/yard (which is often less than half-price) which changes out frequently.  For you Laurel Birch fans (like me) check out the new focus lines just in.

Trying to keep this newsletter shorter since last week's was long.  So I'll select orange as our special color of the week, for which you'll receive an additional bonus price when you tell us you know the color is orange.  And you continue to rack up those SVQ bonus points worth CASH at the shop.  I chose orange because I've seen some beautiful sunrises and sunsets lately, containing orange.  Nature is so impressive!  Hope to see you soon and thanks for coming in to visit with us.  Have a wonderful week!  Nothing planned for the evening of May 19th?  Join us for Pajama Mamas
