REVISED: Meet Dana Gioia, CA poet laureate, at El Cerrito Public Library on Thursday, April 20!
No known relation to Supervisor John Gioia!
As part of El Cerrito's centennial celebration,  Dana Gioia,   California's poet laureate is reading a selection of his works at our Contra Costa El Cerrito Public Library on Thursday evening, April 20th. There will also be opportunity for conversation.

I don't know of any direct family connection to Dana Gioia, but who knows, we may be linked through Italian ancestors!

His poetry is beautiful and his artistic journey somewhat unusual as he worked for many years as a high level business executive writing poems at night before leaving corporate culture for words. (See him reads his works on  YouTube channel.)

A former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, Dana Gioia will be joined by  El Cerrito Poet Laureate Maw Shein Win, and local Poetry Out Loud student champions Kiara Chatman and Camila Morales-Jimenez.

Part of Dana Gioia's mission as poet laureate is to visit every county in the state.
