Coming in January. The Kubos Brothers have been on the Texas music scene for years, and are still bringing their talents to Oprys, and well-known country, Western swing, and polka bands. It's National Polka Month! Learn about the roots of polka, and plan to attend the dance, featuring the Dujka Brothers, to raise funds for the International Polka Association. Editor Gary E. McKee writes an interesting column about music greats who left this world on January 1, and he remembers country star Mel Tillis. Justin Everett reviews the new CD from the Czechaholics, celebrating their 15th anniversary. He also writes a tribute to his Great Uncle Lawrence Vrazel, and profiles DJ Michael Craig. John Dujka brings Musings from the Road, Texas Folklife presents its Master Fiddler Awards, and Theresa Parker reports on her evening as an honoree at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center.

WEEKLY LAUGH
A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.

Keep the smile. Leave the tears. Hold the laugh. Leave the pain. Think of joy. Forget the fear. Be joyous, cause it's a New Year.
