1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Brookline Public Library | 31 Pleasant Street, Brookline, MA
By T: Take the C Line (to or from Cleveland Circle) of the Green Line to the Coolidge Corner stop. Cross to the northeast corner, by the CVS. Walk east down Beacon Street toward Boston. Take first left onto Pleasant Street. The library is a short distance on the right.
Parking: In addition to metered street parking, there are several parking spaces under the building in the rear. The driveway is to the right of the building as you face the front. Please do not park in the private lot directly across from the front entrance: you will be towed. The closest public lot is on John St. about two blocks away.
Handicapped access: There is one handicapped space on the street directly in front of the main entrance. There is another handicapped space near the parking bays under the library, with a long ramp/sidewalk up to the street and the entrance. This space, however, is near the entrance to the meeting room in the basement, so it should be used for handicapped access to events.
The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has undertaken a series of efforts to encourage friendships and community inclusion among the people they support. DDS and stakeholders believe that regulations, policies and practices may be obstacles to promoting more community participation and friendships. A new social inclusion policy is now being shared for input to achieve this goal. Guidance to DDS staff and agencies in the field will follow as the policy becomes final.
We are offering an opportunity for in-personal feedback on the policy on May 16. The co-sponsoring agencies along with DDS and The Arc are encouraging people with disabilities, families, staff, volunteers and others to share their input in person or by filling out a response survey which is posted on the internet by the Shriver Center at UMMS (CDDER). Please RSVP in case changes need to be made.
If you need to phone RSVP for either location please leave a message at 781-891-6270, xt. 104.
