MESSAGE FROM PASTOR JON

Dear Friends and Members of Ark and Dove,

Last night we set the sanctuary in a circle around the communion table. We watched and listened to Jesus washing his disciples' feet. We shared a communion meal together. It was good to be back among this circle of friends.

We departed in silence and walked into this Good Friday. As I reflect on the suffering of Jesus on this day, I cannot help but think of those who echo his cry today: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" On this holy day, we remember that Jesus entered into the darkness, horror, pain, and loss of this world. Our faith tells us God goes to hellish depths to help us. Let us remember this today.

This day is not without hope. We know that there is a light that dissipates the darkness. There is a love that trumps hate. There is a life that overcame death. That is what we celebrate this Easter. I invite you to join us in joyful celebration this Sunday. Let me tell you, the music will be fantastic! Come sing and celebrate with us at 9:30 and 11 am. Bring family and friend, this is a joyous occasion. I look forward to seeing you!

Peace,
Pastor Jon

VERSES AND PRAYER

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night, but find no rest. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. In you our ancestors trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. To you they cried, and were saved; in you they trusted, and were not put to shame. -Psalm 22:1-5

But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.' This is my message for you." So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. -Matthew 28:5-8

***

God of resurrection: At times, our sufferings are too much. Our fear is often too real. The weight of darkness and death is oppressive. And yet, we know that out of suffering came salvation. We know that fear turned to hope. We know that light broke the dark, and death was overcome by life. God of life, let us live out of the hope and joy of Easter. With all that we are, let us worship you--the God who saves! Amen.

TES FOR YOU

Please join us this evening for our Good Friday service.  The music is so moving, and will be lead by our choir, piano and strings.  On Easter Sunday morning, we will be joined by the trumpet, French horn, trombone and flute, in addition to our strings and piano.  The music is going to be incredible! And as always, we will invite you up to the sing the " Hallelujah Chorus" with us at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services.  Happy Easter, friends!

Mission

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING As we move from the somber, reflective time of Lent into the joyous Easter season, please consider making a gift to the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering. If you've already given to this important offering, thank you. Also, thanks to the children who have diligently filled their fish banks; we appreciate your generosity! You have enabled the hungry around the nation and the world to be fed; assisted those struggling with the aftermath of disasters; and empowered people to improve their lives through the Self Development of People. Our gifts join with those made by congregations around the country to lift up those in need and "loose the bonds of injustice" (Isaiah 58). There are dedicated envelopes for the One Great Hour offering that can be found in the sanctuary, or you may give online via our website. With thanks, Christine Caufield-Noll, Mission Elder, ccnmission@outlook.com
