Studying a Petaluma-Sebastopol Bike Trail
Imagine riding from Santa Rosa to Sebastopol and then all the way to Petaluma on car-free trails. We're studying possible routes for a 13-mile bike and pedestrain trail that would connect Petaluma and Sebastopol and link to the Joe Rodota Trail from Santa Rosa. Give your f eedback  at an  April 15 workshop or through this online survey.
On the Path to Spring Picnics
Foothill Park's Oakwood Trail leads to a secluded picnic spot
Spring in Sonoma County is practically a Technicolor experience, and a picnic in the park is one of the best ways to appreciate the season's vivid beauty. If you're up for a little adventure, here are three out-of-the-way picnic sites where you can immerse yourself in the splendor or spring.
Planning the Future of North Sonoma Mountain
Hikers enjoyed a special campout on the mountain last year
We're developing a master plan to guide the future of recreation and conservation at North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park and Preserve. That means we're  considering new trails, including a path to the mountain top, and amenities like camp sites, cabins and riding stables. Learn more and share your ideas at an April 27 workshop
Join our "Trailgating" Party with REI
Join us and our friends at REI as we mark Earth Day and 50 years of Regional Parks with a "trailgating" party from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Spring Lake. Stop by for s'mores, games, nature crafts, gear demos, and sessions on leave-no-trace camping, hiking essentials, wilderness survival, and packing. Take a photo at our new selfie station or share your parks story at our pop-up video lounge and you could win a parks membership
Gather for an Earth Day Campfire and Twilight Hike
After we wrap up our "Trailgating" party April 22 at Spring Lake, we'll lead a bilingual nature hike at 7 p.m. and learn about the park's nocturnal residents. We'll listen for owls and look for bats on this easy-paced walk. Then we'll gather around a bonfire for Earth Day-themed games, poems, songs, and stores, and more s'mores!
Celebrate Day of the Child/Dia Del Nino
Honor the children in your life during April 29th's Day of the Child/Dia Del Nino at Spring Lake's Environmental Discovery Center. Enjoy hikes, stories, music, crafts, special exhibits, and bilingual activities that connect us to each other and nature. We are one of a dozen organizations hosting Day of the Child/Dia Del Nino events around the county.
Make Your Dog's Day with "Hikes with Hounds"
Did you know most of our 150 miles of trail are dog-friendly? "Hikes with Hounds," our newest hiking series, offers well-behaved dogs (and their people) a chance to explore the trails system and meet new friends. We'll hike a different park each Thursday in May and August.
