September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the U.S., which is why we focused on different aspects of this devastating illness that was the reason behind the birth of the Los Cabos Children's Foundation back in 2002. We shared some joyful moments with the children, bringing visitors with gifts to the Pediatric Oncology Unit in Salvatierra Hospital in La Paz, and we got to know more about the staff that supports the oncologists in taking care of the children. Also, we shared some important information with our supporters regarding the symptoms of leukemia, which accounts for 53% of the children being treated in the Unit.
Many things are at stake when it comes to children surviving cancer: early detection, treatment abandonment, quality health facilities and services and loving support from family and friends.
We will keep doing our part by striving for more awareness and support in our community so that it is possible for children to receive proper treatment near their home.
You can feel very proud, because it is thanks to generous people like you that our Southern Baja children have the opportunity to live!
