POTOCKI CENTER FOR THE ARTS OPENS JANUARY 20
Mission Viejo Converts Conference Center to Arts Center

The Thomas R. Potocki Conference Center, operated by the City of Mission Viejo, officially becomes The Thomas R. Potocki Center for the Arts on January 20, with a Grand Opening event.  The facility has been transformed into a fine arts center for visual arts classes, workshops and exhibitions to meet the growing demand of the City's residents. This is one of the outcomes recommended in the Cultural Arts Master Plan developed for Mission Viejo in 2016 by Arts Orange County--though it was an idea that had already been contemplated by the City.  More details here.

Lines Between Fine Arts & Pop Culture Are Dissolving
(Is this news?)

Audiences (not just girls, Cyndi!) just wanna have fun.  The findings of a new study "Culture Track '17" conducted by a New York marketing & design firm were discussed recently at a high profile arts panel in Los Angeles.  It seems that distinctions between "high art" and "pop culture" are less important than having a "fun experience"--which could be either.  Read about it here.
