The Federation welcomes Gabriel Miller as Executive Director. Miller, who began his five-year term on May 1, is an experienced not-for-profit leader with an extensive track record in member relations, stakeholder engagement and public policy development.
Miller succeeds Christine Tausig Ford, who has served as Interim Executive Director from October 2016 to April 2017. The Federation Board and staff sincerely thank her for her support to internal operations as well as to external relations and partnerships.

Approaches for assessing impacts
The Federation has published a new report on the assessment of scholarly impacts in the humanities and social sciences. The goal of this report - which builds on the Federation's earlier work - is to help the HSS community articulate scholarly impacts in a flexible, pluralistic and comprehensive way. Find it

Junker receives GGIA
The Federation
congratulates the recipients of the 2017 Governor General's Innovation Awards (GGIA) and is especially pleased to see its own nominee among the winners:
Marie-Odile Junker, Professor of Linguistics and Killam Research Fellow, Carleton University. The Governor General will present the awards to the winners during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on May 23, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Listen to Junker's recent

2017 Federation Annual General Meeting, will take place at Congress on Sunday, May 28 2017. The AGM, which follows the Canada Prizes ceremony, will begin at 6:30 pm, and includes a dinner at 7:00 pm.The AGM location has moved to the Tecumseh Auditorium, SCC-Student Centre 115, Ryerson Student Centre.

Reconciliation Pole installed at UBC
The Reconciliation Pole, jointly commissioned by the Audain Foundation and UBC, will be a permanent fixture at UBC's Vancouver campus, symbolizing the experiences of residential school students and the path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Read more
