URI Hillel is making plans for an ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK to Houston to help repair homes after the historic floods caused by Hurricane Harvey.
No experience necessary--just a positive attitude and a commitment to work hard and do good.
Trip includes:
-
Three meals a day on workdays
-
Basic Housing (clean but spare)
-
Local transportation to/from service sites
-
Ground transportation to/from airport
-
Experienced team leaders running all job sites
-
All equipment and supplies needed on the job site
-
Daily reflection, team building, and service learning curriculum
-
Excursions to nearby attractions and interaction with local community members
We need a minimum of 5 students to make this possible. We will be joining with students from Milwaukee Hillel. The trip will be hosted by
NECHAMA, the Jewish Response to Disaster.
After generous grants, the cost per student will be approximately $350. Additional student fund raising could further lower the cost.
If you are interested and would like to apply or get more information, please email Amy Olson by January 5. We need to know if we have sufficient interest in order to proceed. |
