Student Talent and Creativity Shine at the Congressional Art Competition
Jocelyn Pike from the Lyndon Institute took top honors at the 36th
Annual Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the Congressional Institute. Her winning work of art, "Peru," was selected from 161 student entries representing 35 Vermont high schools. It will be displayed for one year in the United States Capitol Complex along with other winners from congressional districts across the country.
"I am amazed at the creativity of the many talented young artists across Vermont. A job well done to all participants," said Congressman Peter Welch, who was on hand to congratulate the winner and thank the students for their participation. "I'm looking forward to seeing Jocelyn's artwork in the Capitol!"
The second and third place winners were Tyler Skroski and Eli Hammond, both from Harwood Union High School. The artwork was judged by Kate Gridley, Dianne Shullenberger, and Brooke Monte. The exhibit was hosted by the Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier.
