For alumni and friends  of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Friends,

The month of May is such an exciting and busy time here at St. Therese. May Crowning in the school and parish, the Junior High Cruise, All School Fun Day, Talent Show, Spirit Week, lots of fun Faculty Follies...not to mention the graduation excitement that fills the air. It is hard to believe we will soon begin our annual traditions of passing the torch to our 7th graders and saying goodbye to another graduating class. I get sentimental every year.

This month brings in another wave of excitement from our amazing academic accomplishments that fill our newsletter each month. Congratulations goes out to Ms. Hang for a spectacular showing in this year's Catholic Math League! Our 8th graders were named NATIONAL champions in ALGEBRA among all entries - elementary and high school. Students in grades 3 - 8 did an amazing job both at the division and national level!

Stay tuned for fun announcements regarding our talented students performing at the Thompson Center (May 16th) and the Daley Center for Asian Heritage Month (date to be announced soon), as well as us hosting an international school visit with educators from Santa Laurensia Elementary School (Indonesia) on May 17th!

Peace and joy to all of you during this blessed month.

Blessings,
Ms. Cavallone
Principal

Students and Parishioners Celebrate Easter Season
An Easter Vigil, Living Stations of the Cross, a Holy Thursday Pilgrimage to area churches, and Easter crafts were among the special activities with our students in preparation for Easter. Religious Education staff works very hard so that our students learn the meaning and importance of this time in the Christian calendar and carefully plan activities and events for all ages and students.

Justice Laura Liu
Honored and Remembered with a Statue

A large group of family, friends and dignitaries helped celebrate the life and contributions of Justice Laura Liu at a statue unveiling in Ping Tom Park on April 15, 2017. Michael Kasper, Justice Laura's husband, presided over the event. St. Therese dancers performed for all who attended the memorial dedication. To view a video of the dedication, click here.

The Justice Laura Liu Scholarship Fund was established for St. Therese students in honor of Justice Liu. The Scholarship Fund has raised over $200,000 since being established in the Spring of 2016. Scholarships are awarded to Asian American students who demonstrate need and for whom English is not their first language. We welcome continued contributions to the scholarship fund - you may send your gift to the school or give online here.

Always a special event, this year's May Crowning celebrations included a ceremony during an all-school mass, and another one shared with the Parish during Sunday mass.
