Your Weekly School Update
December 22, 2017
This week's adventures..
Our school family is completely prepared to welcome the Baby Jesus this Christmas! We have spent these weeks of Advent in prayer and have made conscious and deliberate decisions to GIVE TO OTHERS this season. Our week began with such a tremendous outpouring of love to those less fortunate, as students (and their families) demonstrated the true meaning of Christmas. Gift cards for our adopted St. Vincent dePaul families flowed steadily into our school, as students were compelled to help the families they had been praying for and had grown invested in spiritually. Thank you so much for reinforcing these critical lessons of giving to those less fortunate…. your generosity was overwhelming and will be greatly appreciated by our Advent families.   Click here to read a message of thanks from our SVDP chairperson, Michael Bachstein.

This week’s Christmas Concert and Nativity Pageant was the perfect opportunity to get in the “Christmas spirit” by remembering that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season!  Our Kindergarten through Grade 5 students, as well as our Upper School Chorus, sang beautifully under the direction of both Mr. Borges and Miss Cournoyer. A great deal of gratitude can be expressed to these two teachers for their dedication to our music program and for preparing our students for greatness! Thank you also to Mrs. Shaughnessy and all of the parent volunteers who assisted with the Nativity performance.  The evening was beautifully orchestrated and had quite an impact on all who were in attendance.

On behalf of our entire faculty and administrative team, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and memorable break with your family. Please remember to celebrate the joy of the birth of Our Lord and Savior in your home this Christmas!

O COME LET US ADORE HIM!
God bless and see you in the New Year!

As you may have read in the correspondence email sent from the CSA (Catholic Schools Alliance), our teachers will be included in a wonderful opportunity that has been granted and financed by the Carney Family Foundation. All of our teachers will be receiving training in "The Responsive Classroom", an exceptional method of classroom management/strategies. This professional development opportunity will take place on Tuesday, January 16th , resulting in NO SCHOOL that day for students. Due to the addition of this Professional Day in January, we will be eliminating the day we had scheduled for March 23rd. Thank you for your cooperation, and understanding as we take advantage of this opportunity for our teachers.

and learn about the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) starting in January at our parish.
Students prayed rosaries and daily intentions for the struggles of their adopted family-in-need

FLY on the WALL...
heard from the HALL

As you can imagine the excitement of Christmas absolutely "took over" in the school today! Classrooms became party zones and our students did their best to remain well behaved amidst the Christmas craze.
While flying by the kindergarten classroom this morning the following was heard:

Teacher: "Please sit on your bottom, and do not use the word dude ... it is inappropriate."
Inner thoughts of the fly: "Isn't that how we referred to Santa in the song during the concert? "Oh that Santa.... what a dude!"
