2017 by the Numbers
A Year of Thanks!

We can't thank you enough for the generous gifts you have made to the Foundation this year. Together we make a real difference in the lives of those around us.

Just a reminder:

Each time you give a gift, you will receive a Thank You letter from us, and those letters serve as your tax receipts. Rather than sending end-of-the-year statements, we like to say "Thanks!" all year long.

Pardee Foundation
Board Spotlight:
Amy Treece,
Board Chairperson

I became involved with Pardee Foundation about eleven years ago when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. He received his care at Pardee and although it was such a difficult time, my family felt comforted by the care and compassion that we received from everyone at Pardee. From the volunteer that greets you at the door to the doctor that has to deliver news of a devastating diagnosis, we never doubted that Pardee is a place where people truly care and somehow, that made things a little easier.

Because of my gratitude to Pardee, I felt compelled to get involved. My first experience with volunteering at Pardee was through the Women Helping Women committee. Serving with a committee of women that honors and supports other women during some of the most difficult times of their lives has been one of my greatest joys.

I am in my fifth year of serving on the Foundation Board of Directors and I am currently the Chairperson. One of my favorite things about the Foundation is hearing the stories of why people give. More often than not, their stories are very similar to mine. I believe that we all share the same fear that someone we love will become seriously ill. By supporting Pardee Foundation, I am helping ensure that when that day comes, Pardee will be there to deliver the same compassionate and quality care that they are known for.
December's Volunteer of the Month:  Jimmy Chandler

Pardee Foundation is pleased to honor Jimmy Chandler as December's Volunteer of the Month.

Jimmy brings a wealth of experience from the business and non-profit world. He serves as the Vice-Chair of Governance for the Foundation's Board of Directors and on both the Board's Strategic Planning and Finance Committees.

Jimmy's service goes beyond just the board and committees. He has been actively involved in engaging new supporters for the Foundation and for the Cancer Center Campaign.  He and his wife Hardy also regularly attend the Foundation's events.

T he Foundation is  grateful to Jimmy for everything he has done and continues to do  to help ensure Pardee offers exceptional healthcare for our communities. Thank you, Jimmy!

Pardee Hospital
Welcomes Mary Spon
as New
Volunteer Services President

Mary Spon made Hendersonville her home in May, 2013 when she and her husband, Wayne, both retired from their jobs with the Montgomery County  public school system in Maryland.

Mary provided training and support to union/management committees and ran the joint National Board program for the school system. She has an MS in Speech Pathology from Marquette University and taught preschool handicapped children in Waukesha, Wisconsin for 11 years. Mary has held several teacher leadership roles in Wisconsin, Texas, and Maryland.

She very much enjoys volunteering at the Garden CafĂ©, the Information Desk, and serving as a Back-up transporter. She has been a volunteer with Pardee Hopital for just over two years. Mary will be replacing outgoing Volunteer Services President Sarah Markham at the start of 2018.

Congratulations to Gail Garren, winner of the Foundation's quilt raffle!

The beautiful quilt was handmade and donated by local artist Verlie Murphy.

The raffle brought in nearly $300, all of which will go to the Foundation's Women Helping Women program.

Women Helping Women  is a program that supports women in WNC by offering both financial and emotional support to those who need it. What started in 1998 as a group of women offering means to pay for various cancer screenings and treatment has transformed into so much more. Click here to learn more.

Ready or Not, Here Comes 2018!!

The end of 2017 is swiftly approaching, and end of the year giving  is a little "tricky" this year with December 31st falling on a Sunday.  In order for a donation to be a tax benefit for you for 2017, it must be delivered to the Foundation office by Friday, December 29th by 5:00 pm, or postmarked by December 30th since the United States Postal Service does not operate on Sundays.

The Pardee Foundation website will be open 24/7 and you are welcome to make your gift in that manner if you prefer by clicking here.  Supporting tax documents will be sent after your gift is received.

Please consider making an end of the year gift!  Because of your support, Pardee Hospital continues to grow, serving our region from the main campus as well as from multiple facilities throughout Henderson County, south Buncombe County and the surrounding region.

We would be honored if you would consider making a gift to Pardee's Annual Fund.  Your unrestricted gift allows us to invest in your community's health where the need is greatest.

Giving Societies are recognized at the following levels:

*Generations $1,000+
*Ambassadors $250 - $999
