If not, join your favorite RDGA Member Club and begin enjoying all the benefits of RDGA GHIN membership - including being able to play in RDGA tournaments. Rochester District Golf Association, rejoice: the start of the official USGA-GHIN score posting season for 2017 is now under way - in other words...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As of April 15, the RDGA handicapping season is ACTIVE and will continue through October 31. It is important to know that any scores made in the Rochester area between now and then should be posted and will be applied towards your USGA-GHIN Handicap Index.
There are several ways to sign up for an official USGA GHIN Handicap Index through the RDGA - primarily by joining one of
66 RDGA Member Clubs

And now that score posting has begun, this year's RDGA Tournament Schedule is also about to get under way. This year's schedule has something for all golfers - men, women, seniors and juniors - and registration for all events has already begun!
Junior golfers under the age of 17 can register for a FREE USGA Handicap Index at any one of the 66 RDGA Member Clubs!
Opening the
2017 RDGA Tournament Schedule are the popular RDGA Play Days; events open to ALL amateur golfers - men and women, ages 15 and above - with an active USGA GHIN Handicap Index through the Rochester District Golf Association. If you've never played in an actual golf tournament before - or if you've always wanted to play some of the best courses in the area - then RDGA Play Days are for you!

The popular RDGA Women's Open, celebrating women's golf in Rochester, will by hosted by Irondequoit Country Club on September 11.

The
Women's Team Scramble
- the only 4-person scramble on the RDGA schedule - will be hosted by the scenic
Reservoir Creek Golf Club
on June 4.

The RDGA Match Play Championship is being hosted by Clifton Springs Country Club on May 26-28, 2017, and will include both Men's and Senior Divisions for pre-qualified players, based on tournament points earned last season.

he 2017 RDGA Junior Tournament schedule - including medal events for Boys and Girls Juniors (15-17), Sub-Juniors (12-14) and Pee Wees (7-11) - gets under way in early July and leads up to the RDGA Junior Championships at Mill Creek Golf Club on July 31 through August 2.

- The RDGA's flagship event, the District Championship for men, women and women and senior women returns to Locust Hill Country Club - the longtime host of the LPGA in Rochester - on July 12-15, 2017.

RDGA FOUNDATION, Inc. & PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS
TEAM UP for CLUB DONATION WEEKEND, MAY 5-7, to SUPPORT FORESIGHT JUNIOR GOLF
Have some gently used golf equipment - or sporting goods of any kind - taking up space in your garage or basement? Will you be doing some "spring cleaning" next weekend?
If you answered yes to those questions, there is going to be an opportunity for you to take care of both problems - and help support junior golfers throughout Rochester at the same time!
On the weekend of May 5 to 7, the
Rochester District Golf Association Foundation, Inc.
and
Play It Again Sports, Rochester are teaming up to host a golf equipment and sporting goods donation drive at the Play It Again Sports store in Henrietta. A portion of all equipment donated in the name of the RDGA at that location will support the ForeSight junior golf program right here in Rochester.
Between Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7, bring in all the current, quality used golf and sports equipment you are no longer using to the Henrietta location of Play It Again Sports - and be sure to let them know you are donating your items in the name of the RDGA to support local junior golf. In return, you'll also be provided with a receipt for your tax deductible donation.

BUFFALO DISTRICT INVITES RDGA MEMBERS
TO PLAY IN TWO PERSON SCRAMBLE ON MAY 8
In the spirit of growing the game of golf - and strengthening our connections with our neighbors to the west - the
Buffalo District Golf Association has invited members of the
Rochester District Golf Association to play in their season-opening event, the
BDGA Two-Person Scramble. The event features two men's flights, a senior flight and a women's flight.
Scheduled for Monday, May 8, the
2017 BDGA Two Person Scramble will be hosted by the beautiful
Fox Valley Club in
Lancaster, located between
Buffalo and
Batavia. One of the Buffalo District's top private clubs, Fox Valley first opened in 1991 and plays to a par 72. Fox Valley is also home to the Western New York PGA Museum and offices.
To play in the 2017 BDGA Two-Person Scramble, you need a current USGA Handicap Index issued through the RDGA or an RDGA Member Club. To register, contact BDGA Executive Director Mark Rydza at [email protected]. Registration for this event closes on May 5.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY FACILITIES ANNOUNCE NEW
PARTNERSHIP to PROMOTE GOLF; EVENT SCHEDULE
Looking to attract more golfers to their area - as well as increase the number of golfers in their own region - a group of
Livingston County
-based golf courses have announced a new partnership that will feature several new playing opportunities for local golfers this season.
The Livingston County Golf Association is a newly-created affiliation of 9 golf facilities in Livingston County, with the stated purpose of promoting mutual play, as well as growing the game of golf in the area
.
The group is promoting a full schedule of tournaments this year - with at least one event at each member facility - which will be open to ALL golfers who have USGA GHIN Handicap Indexes issued by the RDGA or an RDGA Member Club.

LOCAL U.S. OPEN QUALIFYING SITE FULL; DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTRIES is APRIL 26
PLEASE NOTE:
the Rochester-area host site for 2017 Local U.S. Open Qualifying - scheduled for Monday, May 15, at Oak Hill Country Club - is now FULL.
Players who wish to enter a
Local U.S. Open Qualifier
may still do so at several other sites around the country, including three closest to the Rochester area in Butler, Harrisburg and Scranton, Pennsylvania, as well as one in Albany, New York on May 17. For a complete list of 2017 U.S. Open Local Qualifying sites, CLICK HERE.

RDGA CO-HOSTING FREE USGA RULES SEMINAR
WITH NYSGA AT CCR ON APRIL 22
T
he
NYSGA
offers FREE, introductory level USGA Rules of Golf seminars to the golfing public. These presentations, which are taught by USGA certified Rules Officials, utilizes professionally produced interactive videos detailing common situations that players often encounter on the course. Instructors will also cover the proposed Rules changes in order to facilitate discussions and provide some clarification.
The next Rules Seminar in this series will be hosted by the Country Club of Rochester on Saturday, May 22, and will be conducted by senior RDGA Rules Officials Wilson Fitch and Dan Overbeck.
Attendees will receive a copy of the Rules of Golf (2016-2018) and will be entered into a raffle to win Rules related items. Complimentary refreshments and pastries will be served
