Are you Current?
Dear members of Island Synagogue:
How time flies.  You may not have realized it but we are a little over the halfway point through the synagogue's fiscal year.  Therefore, you should have fulfilled at least half, if not more, of your financial obligation to your synagogue. This includes your dues, building fund commitment and any other obligations to the shul.  Our staff, the mortgage and the utilities get paid continuously throughout the year, month after month - not at the end of the year. It is therefore incumbent on each member to maintain the steady flow of money into the shul coffers.  Please check to see how current you are and should you be behind it would greatly be appreciated if you could rectify that situation.  Should there be unanticipated hardships on you or your family and you cannot meet your obligations, please contact the Dues Committee at dues@islandsynagogue.org.

Thank you for your consideration, understanding and cooperation.

You've read him in footnotes; now understand what Ramban, Rabbi Moshe ben Nachman (Nachmanides, 1194-1270) really says. He'll often quote the great commentators, Rashi or Ibn Ezra, and then go on to disagree with their views. We'll proceed through the five Books of Moses exploring and enjoying the often-surprising twists that Ramban, in his intellectual style, contributes to the familiar texts.
