Within a week we've had both Senator Gillibrand and Senator Schumer visit Glens Falls!

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will visit the World Awareness Children's Museum calling on the Senate to reject President Trump's budget proposal to eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities.

EDC welcomed New York's Senior U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to Glens Falls last Friday and thanked him for his continuing support for Upstate New York.

Senator Schumer was in Glens falls visiting Glens Falls Hospital and Hospital President/CEO Dianne Shugrue and other hospital officials.  Additionally, EDC President Ed Bartholomew conferred with the Senator regarding federal budgetary issues and impacts.

EDC PLANNING FORUM - FRIDAY, MAY 12



EDC Warren County is hosting a Planning Forum on Friday, 
May 12, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. in the Travelers Building at 333 Glen Street, 2nd Floor Community Room on NYS DEC 's State Environmental Quality Review Act - Proposed Amendments 2017.

Panel will include: Chris Round of Chazen Engineering and Mark Schachner, Attorney.  An invitation hs been extended to a representative of NYS DEC.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) proposes to amend the regulations that implement the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR, Title 6 New York Code of Rules and Regulations (6 NYCRR), Part 617).  According to DEC "the principal purpose of the amendments is to streamline the SEQR process without sacrificing meaningful environmental review."

The purpose of the forum is to discuss the proposed amendments and any impacts  for municipalities and for development within Warren County. 

Proposed regulations can be found on NYC DEC website:   http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/83389.html.

Comments on the proposed amendments may be submitted to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Environmental Permits, Attn: James J. Eldred, Environmental Analyst, 625 Broadway, Albany, New York 12233-1750 or by e-mail to:  [email protected].

Comments will be accepted until the close of business on May 19, 2017. E-mailed comments should be provided in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word document format.

Cancer-stricken Glens Falls native to receive NHL broadcast award

Dave Strader, the Glens Falls native who has continued to broadcast hockey games while fighting cancer, will receive the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster, it was announced Monday.

Adirondack Thunder Hockey Sees Attendance Rise 15 Percent, Highest Increase in the ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder hockey team has announced its full season ticket plan for the 2017-2018 season.  The team is moving forward now under local ownership.

The Adirondack Thunder welcomed 101,883 fans into the Glens Falls Civic Center during the 2016-17 regular season, some 13,253 more fans than the 2015-16 season, team officials reported. 


According to the organization, Adirondack was one of 11 ECHL teams to see attendance increase from 2015-16 to 2016-17. The team's 15 percent attendance increase was the largest in the ECHL this season.
