There are some big changes coming to the Toronto real estate market, including foreign buyer's tax, rent controls, speculator's taxes and more; and they will be taking effect almost immediately. The government has implemented a "16 point" plan which is detailed here OR click here for a piece on the changes from the Globe and Mail. 

One of the reasons the changes are being implemented? Toronto home prices were up over 33% in March 2017 as compared to March 2016. Ontario To Query Citizenship, Residency For Real Estate Purchases Starting Monday

Starting Monday, homebuyers in Ontario will have to provide more information about their citizenship and place of residence when they buy a piece of real estate anywhere in the province.

Toronto Real Estate Board Market News

Toronto Real Estate Board President Larry Cerqua announced that Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 12,077 residential sales through TREB’s MLS® System in March 2017.  This result represented a 17.7 per cent increase compared to the 10,260 sales reported in March 2016.  For the TREB market area as a whole, annual sales growth was strongest for condominium apartments and detached houses.
