Letter from A Board
Abby Powell, Board President

Dear friends,

We are in the last two and a half months of the church year, and boy does a lot happen at the end of the year: stewardship drive wrap-up, annual budget development, annual meeting and annual report. That's a lot to pack in, and we need your help to get it all accomplished!

In our April board meeting we set the Annual Meeting date on Sunday, June 4th at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary. In the annual meeting, members vote on a new slate of officers for the Board of Trustees, elect a Fund Trustee and approve the annual budget. Please save the date for this important meeting in the life of the church.

In the second part of our April meeting, the Board was joined by the Fund Trustees to review a recommendation for the investment of the Building Fund and Endowment Fund. The guidelines for these investments can be found in the Building Fund Policy and Endowment Fund Policy located in the members section of the church's website. The board approved a modified recommendation for investing the funds as described below:

 - 50% of the total trustee funds which include the Building Fund and the Endowment Fund to be invested in the UUA Fund to be phased in over a period of several months.
 - Remaining 50% to be invested as described in the Building Fund policy, section D, item 2, FDIC insured deposits, US treasury instruments, etc.

I'd like to thank all of the Fund Trustees for their hard work, researching a variety of investment options. I think we have made an exciting step forward.

Love in service,

Abby Powell
President Board of Trustees

Egg Hunt Fun!

Every-bunny had fun at the annual UU Church of Savannah Easter egg hunt in Troup Square. Lillian Soucy brought sass and style to her role as the bunny. Our high school teens are to be commended as bunny's helpers.  They practiced kindness and compassion as they helped our youngest egg-hunters discover hidden treasures in the grass.  No basket was left empty! Thanks to Maria Malcolm for leading this event each year.

Campaign for UUCS!

We are now in the heart of our annual pledge campaign for the church. We are so grateful for everyone who has already submitted their pledges and for the great generosity they reflect.

If you have not yet pledged, please do so now so we can begin all the exciting planning for the coming year! You can pledge right on-line:  http://www.uusavannah.org/pledge

If you would like to discuss pledging pleas don't hesitate to reach out to our Campaign leader, Paul Kurmas (pkurmas@icloud.com) or Rev. Dave (revdave@uusavannah.org).

The church exists and thrives because of you! Let's keep investing in our church together!

Family Promise

We have just over a week before our homeless families will be with us. If you have signed up or would like to help with making a meal or hosting, we need you to pick a time that would work for you. There will be a list of times in Rahn Hall, or you can contact Jim at  jimrosch@gmail.com  or at 518-232-1005. We might have to work on fitting people to available spots so if you could sign up soon, it would make our task of filling slots easier.

We will be hosting the families from Sunday, April 30th to Sunday May 7th. Let me know when you are available. I look forward to hearing from you!

Tony Furtado in Concert at UUCS
Friday May 12 at 7:00 pm

I am thrilled that Tony is coming to play our church, we had the chance to see him on his last swing through Athens - an amazing guitar and banjo player and a really gifted performer. This is powerfully uplifting music to me. I invited him and I hope you'll come out and be surprised by the discovery like I was.

- Rev. Dave

P.S., you can listen to him at tonyfurtado.com

" Very few musicians of any stripe so personify a musical genre as completely as Tony Furtado embodies Americana roots music. Tony is an evocative and soulful singer, a wide-ranging songwriter and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on banjo, cello-banjo, slide guitar and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the flair of a master chef (he's also an accomplished sculptor, but that's another story). All of the music of America is in Tony's music. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony: "True talent doesn't need categories."

This show is brought to you by WRUU 107.5, Savannah Soundings Community Radio and our profits will go to support the operation of the station.
