The National American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC) is seeking to fill the full-time position of Manager, Training and Technical Assistance for the national office in Washington, DC. Reporting to the Program Director, the position is responsible for the day to day management of the Training and Technical Assistance program grant. The position manages grant requirements, consultants and trainer assignments, facilitating the development and documentation of all program work plans; collects data and produces program grant reports for funders, publications and program evaluations; coordinates request for presentations for training content at NAIHC national

The 114th Congress concluded last December without passing the majority of the fiscal year 2017 spending bills, including the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) bill that funds the Indian Housing Block Grant and other housing and related physical infrastructure in tribal communities.

Building an Economic Agenda for the 115th Congress - Listening Session

Join a facilitated listening session with the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs to review and comment on existing legislation such as the ICE bill and offer ideas to build a cohesive economic plan for the new Congress. Tax reform, infrastructure development, and creating jobs through economic development are high priorities for the Republican controlled Congress and Administration. COLLABORATIVE ACTION GRANTS

Applications are open for Enterprise's
Collaborative Action Grants that provide organizations with $5,000 to build community agency, engage local voices, and connect to long-term community goals. We are offering two rounds of grants in 2017. Applicants should be prepared to complete the Collaborative Action within 6 months of grant notification. Please see the attached Call for Proposals for more details.
Webinars featuring an overview of the Collaborative Action grant program and stories from past grantees will take place March 30th + May 18th (3-4 PM EST).

Your membership participation and feedback enables NAIHC to voice the major issues impacting Indian housing, ensuring that your tribe's experiences and needs are heard. Voting Members are allowed to vote on Membership Resolutions at NAIHC's Annual Convention & Trade Show (June 27-29, 2017). Membership also qualifies your organization for discounted registrations at some of the national gatherings.
Becoming an Associate (non-voting) member of NAIHC allows your group or company an opportunity to share your products and services with a targeted audience. Membership also helps your group stay up to date on the issues and needs within Indian Housing that allow you to better serve as a valuable resource.

Mixed Income Development Training
May 10-May 11| Portland, OR
This training is designed to provide Indian Housing Professionals with a thorough overview of the process for determining the planning, financing, development and marketing necessary to ensure a successful mixed income residential project. Over the two-day course, participants will learn how to analyze need, interpret market data, engage stakeholders, address staff capacity, and evaluate different financing options available for their mixed income projects. The training will also include an opportunity to learn about financing options targeted to tribal housing organizations as well as successes and pitfalls from other tribal housing groups utilizing mixed income development.
Procurement Training
June 6-7 | Olympia, WA
Description:
Training participants at all experience levels will gain the confidence and knowledge to conduct efficient and effective procurement that complies with HUD and other funding source requirements. This 2-day training addresses both management and construction development procurement. Training topics will range from careful preplanning and the basics of purchasing to unique factors in tribal housing purchasing, the practical how-to's of procurement
planning and policy development, as well as specific regional issues. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on group exercises that are designed to turn theoretical knowledge into daily practice.
Admissions and Occupancy Training
July 11-July 13 | Olympia, WA
Description:
Participants at this 3-day interactive training will receive instruction based on real-life examples on how to successfully operate an effective A & O program. As a part of the training, participants will receive guidance on and take part in interactive exercises on the "A-to-Z" of A & O program. Training topics will include eligibility, wait lists, rent calculations, collections, inspections, and lease compliance. Discussions will be held on how Admissions and Occupancy staff may need to collaborate with maintenance on tasks such as work-order processing, unit turnaround, and tenant education on the basic maintenance of the unit.
