French Air Force's Elite "Patrouille de France" to Perform at Mather Airport

On Saturday, April 15th, the French Air Force's elite military demonstration team "Patrouille De France" will give an aerial demonstration at Mather Airport with jet aerobatics, barnstorming, warbirds and more! Sacramento is one of only six cities in the country and the only city in the western United States to host this extraordinary 8-ship military jet demonstration team!

This show commemorates the 100th anniversary of United States entering World War I to support our European allies. The event certainly has its historical significance, but it's also an opportunity for aviation fans to witness heart-pounding jet engines in flight months before the premier California Capital Airshow on September 9 and 10. Tickets to this special event are available in limited number to California Capital Airshow Insiders. Click here to sign up

Public Works for You

Your City Public Works team is busy improving some areas of our City with these new projects:

2017 ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project
The project will replace sections of sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety and enhance accessibility for Rancho Cordova residents. Construction is anticipated to begin in April.

Capital SouthEast Connector Project
The project is a 34-mile expressway through the southern area of Sacramento County into El Dorado County. The expressway would connect Interstate 5 to Highway 50 by enabling drivers to bypass downtown Sacramento. A portion of the expressway is proposed in the City of Rancho Cordova from Grant Line Road and Highway 16 (Jackson Highway) to Grant Line Road and White Rock Road. The Environmental Document for the City portion of the project  is available for a 30-day public review and comment period through May 1, 2017. Click here to learn more.

The construction timeline, locations, and updates for these and other current projects are available on the City's website .
Online Pet Licensing Now Available

Did you know all cats and dogs must be licensed by four months of age? The City of Rancho Cordova Animal Services has just launched an online form that will make licensing pets a lot easier! Instead of having to mail or physically bring hard-copy forms to the Animal Services Office, you can now do it all online at your leisure. You can also choose to receive email notices to renew licenses.

As this is a new feature on the City's website, our Animal Services team appreciates customer feedback so we can continue to improve and streamline the licensing process.

Take the National Water Conservation Pledge

Help the City of Rancho Cordova compete in the Wyland Foundation's National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation this year! The month-long challenge, held during Earth Month (April 1-30) is a competition that encourages cities across the nation to see who can be the most water wise.

The City of Rancho Cordova is already making progress towards being a champion for the environment by installing low flow toilets, automatic faucets, and smart sprinkler systems. We've also earned the Energy Star award at City Hall for our ongoing energy conservation efforts and reduction in energy consumption.

Take the Pledge to conserve water, energy, and other natural resources. Your participation could help residents win over $50,000 in eco-friendly prizes including a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, water-saving home products, home improvement gift cards and more!

Consumer Tip: Help prevent wipes from clogging sewer pipes!

Disposable disinfectant wipes, baby wipes, and even wipes labeled "flushable" do not break down after they are flushed. Flushing them can cause costly and messy problems for Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD), the sewer utility that serves most of the Sacramento region, including Rancho Cordova.

SASD started a  No Wipes in the Pipes awareness campaign to remind customers to flush only toilet paper and human waste- -nothing else! And if you do use wipes, please trash them. Don't flush them!

Sunriver Neighborhood Celebrates New Par Course

Rancho Cordova's Sunriver community wanted to exercise, socialize and improve their health right in their own neighborhood. Thanks to a grant from the City's Community Enhancement Fund and a close partnership between community members, the City, and the Cordova Recreation & Park District, the community will now enjoy a brand new par course! The par course features exercise equipment, including a health ladder, chin-up stations, elliptical, leg press and much more!

On Saturday, April 8th, the community will come together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as tree-planting and BBQ to celebrate this exciting new addition to our community. Stop by and join us on Saturday morning at Sunriver Park!

Moving with the Mayor

Mayor Donald Terry launched his "Moving with the Mayor" initiative last Friday, which is designed to encourage residents to exercise, as well as to meet people in the community to talk about what's new in the City. He kicked off Moving with the Mayor at a smoothie party that was a reward for Sunrise Elementary School students who participate in the 50 Corridor TMA's Active4Me program, which promotes exercise and caring for the environment. In this photo, Mayor Terry is pedaling a stationary bike that is attached to a blender that mixes smoothies for the students.
