A Message from the Principal...

Parents,
Can you believe how fast this year has flown by? Before we know it, we will be leaving for summer break. I want to brag on how hard students are working and how they have embraced our new behavior expectations. Students are excited about the PBIS program we have implemented to help with behavior in our halls, restrooms, and playground. They are earning Eagle tickets for chances to win a bi-monthly reward. Several students have already participated in recess with the principals, doodle wall, visit from UT athletes, and a school dance. We look forward to continuing PBIS into next year and expect to see increased positive behavior and character development. I want to thank you for all your support at home and your partnership in ensuring student success.
I want to provide some reminders for upcoming important dates.
Blue Grass Families: Join us Thursday,
April 6th for
Leap into Learning from 6:00-7:30. Students and families will have an opportunity to participate in hands on learning across the curriculum. Test your math skills in the gym, or try your hand at coding in the Technology Lab. The library will be open for reading and AR, or you may want to visit the Living Museum in the 4th and 5th grade hallway. Check out the 3rd grade wax museum, and get a sneak peak at Camp Invention in the STEM Lab.
April 11th we will host our Kindergarten Round Up from 4:30 to 6:30. This is an important time to learn more about kindergarten, tour our school, meet kindergarten teachers, participate in activities, and pick-up information packets.
TNReady testing will take place
April 18th and the week of
April 24th. Make ups will be the first week of May. More detailed testing information will come at a later date.
As always, contact the school with any questions. Wishing all Blue Grass families a joyous spring with family and friends.
God Bless,
Mr. Cantrill

A Message from the PTO President...

Hello BG Families,
I am excited to share with you that our fundraiser that took place in March was a huge success! Many thanks to all who came out to support our school. It was a great event at The Pavilion at Hunter Valley Farm. Thank you, Nancy Barger, for your generous support and use of your facility! I would also like to thank our fundraising co-chairs, Jennie Councill & Kristen Gettelfinger and all volunteers who helped in some way.
As I mentioned before, the PTO and school administration had an ambitious goal to raise money this year to replace all computers in the technology lab. This goal was in addition to the many resources that the PTO provides for our school throughout the year. Because of our successful year through our fundraising efforts, partner donations, sponsors and membership drive, we will be purchasing 28 new Apple computers for the technology lab this summer! The final cost of this project is $32,880. THANK YOU to everyone for making this a reality!
The PTO will be hosting the BG Boogie! This is a fun, free event for students at school and will take place during their encore time. Watch for details coming home soon.
As the end of school quickly approaches, I would like to thank the PTO Board of Managers and all volunteers, parents and staff who have supported the PTO throughout the year. I have enjoyed serving as your president and I hope everyone has a great summer!

Please consider volunteering in the clinic next year.
No off-site training is required. All training will take place in the BG clinic. When the clinic is closed, students have to go to the front office. Ms. Deb has spent countless hours this year being the "nurse" of BG, which takes away from her job duties. Even if you only have 3 hours a month, it would be greatly appreciated! More information to come at Meet-n-Greet in August!
