Our 4th Annual Security and Crisis Communications Conference will take place Thursday September 28, 2017 at Century Square in downtown Seattle.

 
New! Clinical Research Professional Conference
October 2, 2017 

Thank you to the 166 people who responded to our recent survey about offering a Clinical Research Professional Conference in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Association for Clinical Research Professionals (PNWACRP). We are proud to offer this new conference on Monday October 2, 2017 at Volney Auditorium at Virginia Mason Medical Center.

The newest of NWABR's conference lineup will address:
  • Communication for successful trials (site qualifications, start-up, ongoing activity and closeout)
  • Legal & Regulatory updates, e.g., single IRB and new rule, ICH E6 (R2)
  • Sponsor or FDA audits
  • Building and retaining quality programs, e.g., handoff's, amendments
  • E-consent and reconsent
2017 Speak Up for Research Gala

Join NWABR at our Annual Gala on May 25th and help celebrate Dr. Steve Reed, this year's Alvin J. Thompson Awardee. When you attend the Gala you will honor Dr. Reed, founder and CEO of Seattle's own Infectious Disease Research Institute.  Enjoy great food, fun activities like a wine toss and Dessert Dash and support the incredible member and education programs of NWABR.

When? May 30th "Sero-segregation: Access and Equity in HIV prevention and treatment", facilitated by Brian Minalga, Office of HIV/AIDS Network @ FHCRC

We'll learn about progress in HIV biomedical research and to discuss ongoing challenges in access and equity.  We'll also celebrate King County's accomplishment in reaching WHO's 90-90-90 goal.  Not sure what that means? Join us to find out.

Judges needed for 17th BioExpo

One of NWABR's heralded programs is the Student BioExpo, now in its 17th year.  This year we have 389 Expo students working diligently on their Expo projects with guidance from their 105 science mentors.

Will you help be a judge for this most inspirational program?   We need an army of volunteers who can evaluate Expo projects as part of a team. 


Your time commitment is:
  • May 4, Wednesday 4:30pm to 6pm. Pre-Expo Judging at Shoreline Community College.  You will discern the preliminary student rankings 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each category.
  • May 19, Friday 8am to 2pm.  Expo judging and celebration at Shoreline Community College. Lunch included.

Nearly There with our Challenge Grant!

It isn't too late to contribute towards our $25,000 challenge grant from the Dean Witter Foundation.  If you give to NWABR now your donation will be matched by the Witter grant essentially doubling (and if your employer matches donations, quadrupling) your impact.  

So far we have raised $24,100 towards this challenge with $900 to go. 

Here are some ways you can contribute:
  • Purchase a table or seat at the May 25th Gala for $760, or $95, with all funds counting toward the challenge grant
  • Support a scholarship for CampBioMed in any amount, with all funds counting toward the challenge grant
These monies will be used to support students from diverse backgrounds participating in NWABR's high school programs.

Apply for the Michael D. Hayre Fellowship for Public Outreach
Americans for Medical Progress (AMP)

Successful applicants will work with AMP to design and implement an outreach program geared toward young professionals on the importance of animals in research.  Deadline is May 15, 2017.
