Extended FLT Periods for December 22
An Important Message For Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
In order to provide students with every possible opportunity for students to stay up to date in all classes, we are offering a modified class schedule on December 22, 2017. On this day, we will run three 52-minute extended Focused Learning Time (FLT) periods.
FLT is typically offered as part of our regular schedule each day and provides an opportunity for students to engage in personalized intervention, extension, and enrichment. Please understand that attendance at these extended FLT sessions is
mandatory
for all students who have been assigned by a teacher to attend.
Students who are not assigned to any FLT sessions by a teacher
will not be required to attend
these extended focused learning opportunities. Please be aware, however, that bus transportation will only be available at the end of the regular school day at 2:10PM.
Your child will be notified by their teacher(s) by Thursday, December 21 at the latest if they will be required to stay for any and all of the extended FLT sessions. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's grades, please contact your child's teacher(s) by email (preferable) or by phone at (603) 642-3341.
The schedule for December 22 will be as follows:

Senior Spotlight : Marissa Fuccione
An Article by Science Teacher Meghan Petruzzi
Marissa Fuccione is unique in that she loves being artistically creative and loves the science behind that creativity. For example, during our ELO we often look at musculoskeletal illustrations of dance poses and admire the beauty behind it. Our conversations involve how amazing the joints are to allow for the movements that allow her to express herself. Marissa is considering doing a series of posters illustrating some dance movements in terms of musculoskeletal interactions as her culminating project.
In addition to her classroom performance, Marissa is very involved in her school community, and the dance community. Marissa is one of those strong silent leaders; she knows the value of a positive attitude is always willing to help and has the confidence to succeed. Marissa has devoted 14 years to dance and considers her studio as a second home/family. She has worked as an assistant dance instructor where she enjoys inspiring children with her passion for dance for 2 years. Her caring nature combined with her academic ambition make her future career choice no surprise. Marissa has realized a way to combine her passions to benefit the dance community that she loves. Marissa would love to further her education by combining specializing in physical therapy for dancers. She recognizes that as a dancer there are unique stresses that require attention to keep dancers dancing for as long as they can. Not only am I not surprised by this decision but I am excited to see her marry her passions together.
Marissa is a sincere and approachable person who is going to go far. She has big plans and is applying to schools like Drexel, Roger Williams, University of North Carolina and University of Hartford to name a few. Keep an eye out for her on the dance stage or very close to it.

Packed With Love: Sweet Cases for Sweet Faces
A Community Service Initiative by Science Teacher Meghan Petruzzi
As you may know, foster children are very near and dear to me. Often children entering foster care have their only belongings kept and moved along with them in a trash bag. This can make foster care even harder than it is already. I am trying to raise money to purchase sweetcases. Sweetcases are duffel bags with a stuffed animal, hygiene kit, blanket, coloring book and various other items. Please give what you can to make a child's transition a little easier.

Do You Have Unwanted Clothing?
Please Use Our Planet Aid Donation Boxes, Located in the Staff Parking Lot
When you drop your unwanted clothing off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.
Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
