New Art Therapy Program Benefits Members

Our newest, exciting program at our Adult Day Center. We are pleased to have The Center for Contemporary Art engage our members every month. Therapeutic art supports patients with cognitive decline to recall their life stories and maintain their sense of self through various art mediums. When combined with reminiscing, art therapy demonstrates that our members are able to express their feelings and share their stories in a colorful, creative manner.

Introducing "Baking with Nancy"

Each month, our members have an opportunity to get hands on involvement with baking. On an invitation from ADC Activity Manager, Nancy Ryerson, residents of Ridge Oak Senior Housing joined our members on St. Patrick's Day to bake Irish Soda Bread. The best part? Enjoying the delicious freshly baked bread!

In Health News, Did you know...?

Urinary tract infections, often referred to as UTI's, are the 2nd most common infection that leads to hospital admission in adults over age 65. Loss of bladder control, a weaker immune system, hospital and /or rehab stay are just a few of the factors that increase risk for older adults. With symptoms that may include mental difficulties and behavior changes, UTI's often go unnoticed in seniors with dementia. Learn more.
