The team at Boston Post Adoption Resources has been working for over a year on this exciting project, and we are thrilled to finally share it with the community. In our first ever book, Adoption Is a Lifelong Journey , we have created the tool we've always wished we had for families touched by adoption and foster care. Written in the voice of the child, this illustrated book provides insight into the emotions and thoughts an adoptee or foster child might encounter while also equipping parents and caregivers with timely responses and resources.

Adoption Is a Lifelong Journey includes a beautifully illustrated portion, appropriate for a parent and child to read together, with each page linking to related recommendations and resources for caregivers at the back of the book, in a section titled "Putting the Pieces Together." Acknowledging that every adoption story is unique, we explore common themes we encounter as therapists, helping readers understand the complex subject of adoption in way that is approachable and normalizes the feelings of the adoptive child.

Boston Post Adoption Resources (BPAR), a 501(c)(3) organization, devotes all proceeds from Adoption Is a Lifelong Journey to our mission to support and provide resources to anyone touched by adoption.

Meet the Authors & Illustrator

Jennifer Eckert envisioned a book that captured the unique experiences that come with adoption. Together with Kelly DiBenedetto and Katie Gorczyca, the three clinicians worked to create a book that is both accessible to children as well as informative for adults and professionals. Kelly skillfully and thoughtfully created images that touch every reader's hearts as they read along in the illustrated portion of the book.

Jennifer Eckert , LICSW, is the founder of Boston Post Adoption Resources.

Kelly DiBenedetto , LMHC, ATR, is the clinical director of Boston Post Adoption Resources.

Katie Gorczyca , MA, is a clinician, expressive therapist and peer group leader at Boston Post Adoption Resources.
