100+ Students Take Part in Roxbury's K-6 Science & Engineering Fair
More than 100 students in grades K-6 participated last Saturday in Roxbury's annual Science and Engineering Fair at Eisenhower Middle School.

Each of the K-6 elementary schools was represented at the fair along with a few participants from Morris County Educare. Experiments encompassed every branch of science including many innovations in technology.

The science team, administration, staff, and families were able to speak to our up and coming scientists from each school. Students were excited to share their results with the Roxbury community.

"Our students are very innovative and clearly think out of the box. One experiment, in particular, was a fully functioning hand made of cardboard, string, and cut up straws. Imagine taking that design to a 3-D printer, the possibilities are endless," shared Denise Glenn, Roxbury Science Supervisor for Grades 6-12.

District students were excited to see their teachers and principals at the fair. Many visited their students to show support and to see the projects they created at home. Students were encouraged to bring their project boards to school on Monday to share with the rest of the school community. Teachers continuously supported and encouraged their students to participate in the fair.

Girls Lacrosse: Randolph Uses Second Half Run to Down Roxbury
It took Randolph five minutes and two shots in the second half to take its first lead of the game.  In the first half, it didn't look like Roxbury would need a comeback.

After winning its first game against a Morris Catholic team that beat them, 17-3, last year, Roxbury was looking for similar redemption against a Randolph team that scored 18 points in their meeting last year.

Koepfler scored two and Karnitsky added one to help Roxbury take a 3-1 lead with under 10 minutes in the first half, but that lead was trimmed to 4-3 by halftime, and then Naslonski and Hladky went to work.

The team is 2-1. The Gaels next play Saturday afternoon at Jefferson.

Roxbury Applied Music Program
Mid-Year Registration for Grades 5-12

Roxbury's Applied Music Program is one of the most celebrated after school programs in the region. Blessed with award-winning music educators offering world-class instruction, the program nurtures local talent, empowering students to pursue careers in entertainment well after graduation.

This is a district-wide program that provides a high-quality enhancement to classroom instruction. Teachers are all specialists on their instrument or vocal specialty. All of our teachers are trained professional musicians and highly qualified in their instrument of expertise. Private study is extremely valuable to the individual student and highly encouraged. Private study is offered as enrichment, NOT remedial instruction. It is encouraged for the complete development of each students' potential as a performing musician and/or artist.

We are beginning mid-year registrations for those students interested in taking private lesson. Once the form and registration fee are received, your child will be assigned a weekly lesson time.

RHS Financial Literacy this Summer
The New Jersey Department of Education has mandated that all students are required to complete a course (2.5 credits) in Financial Literacy to be eligible for graduation. Due to the number of students requesting to take this course, we have decided to offer the class as an online summer course (we will continue to offer the traditional Financial Literacy course at Roxbury High School as well).

The course will be available to Roxbury High School rising juniors and seniors only during the summer of 2017. The course will begin on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 and run for approximately seven weeks. This interactive course will include writing assignments, labs, quizzes, and tests.

The final exam must be taken in person at Roxbury High School during the week of August 14, 2017. If the student does not fulfill all of the requirements for this class, no credit will be given and the appropriate grade will be listed on the student's transcript.
