Dear Friends and Professionals,

In this issue of our newsletter we focus on how technology can support learning, with a focus on SEL, Social-Emotional Learning and Transition.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

We continue to update our inventory of assistive technology (AT) and put them on our website. These items are available for loan. If you're interested in seeing what we have to offer please visit our online inventory.

Learning Social-Emotional Skills in the 21st Century  Mobility
Excellent article on importance of children learning social emotional skills and the use of technology to teach SEL.  Article is excellent because it looks at the use of technology from a balanced perspective examining benefits (children can witness/create avatars that engage in virtual situations as a tool to teach social skills) while cautioning professionals and parents that these technology strategies are TOOLS to be used with adult engagement and not as solutions to replace the crucial role that families and professionals play.

New Vision for Education: Fostering Social Emotional Learning Through Technology

The New Vision for Education project examines the role that technology can potentially play to improve education for the future.
