What's the Rest of the Christmas Story?
by
 Dr. CarolMarie

Have you ever been in a courtroom and watched the proceedings?  Or, maybe you have served on a grueling jury and was expected to seek out the truth!  Most all of us have at least watched something on television where the attorney tries to cause the accused to stumble on the witness stand and spill the beans.  My all-time favorite example of this was in the movie "A Few Good Men" when Tom Cruise (Lt Kaffee) questioned Col Jessup, played by Jack Nicholson!  Wow!  I say that because Lt Kaffee knew that the heart of Col Jessup was full of pride. Because he knew that, he pushed him to say the truth!  Willingly Col Jessup flaunted the truth at this "insignificant lieutenant" who he felt "could not handle the truth!"  The objective was won by Lt Kaffee because he knew the heart of his opponent!

This is the same way how Jesus handled the scribes and Pharisees in John 8:2-11. In this scripture they brought a woman, who had been caught in adultery, to the temple "court".  Her sin was punishable by death under the law, but mercy needed to triumph! Their purpose was to test Jesus with the Law of Moses and see if He would uphold the law.  If He did not, it would disqualify Him in front of the people.  Jesus' reply agreed with them as He said, "He that is without sin, cast the first stone". Jesus knew their hearts and shifted it around by writing in the dirt of the courtyard surrounding the temple.  We don't know what He wrote but one by one the accusers left from the oldest down to the youngest!

Jesus turned to the woman and asked her if there was anyone to accuse her.  "No one, Lord" was her reply.  "Neither do I condemn you", He affirmed. "Go and sin no more".  Her acquittal gave her the power to overcome! There had to be at least two witnesses to uphold any accusation and acquittal in court!  Mercy had triumphed!  And the law of love was established!

Right after that, Jesus addresses the crowd with "I am the Light of the world, he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."  (John 8:12) You may be wondering "what does that have to do with what just took place?"  Jesus connects the dots in verses 15-17, "Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.  And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.  It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true".

They were judging according to the human standards and carnal purposes when they brought the woman to Him.  Jesus tapped into a higher law where He and the Father were the witnesses of the heart!

We have heard this true account many times from the scriptures, but maybe you did not know when this happened!  It was at the very time in history that we are in now!  The lights of the huge Menorah were burning brightly where Jesus was.  The Festival of Lights (Chanukah) and Feast of Dedication was taking place throughout the city. It was a time of celebrating miracles! And Jesus declares "I Am the Light of the world"!  It is also believed that Jesus was conceived at this time according to history which would makes sense too! When Mary became pregnant by the Holy Spirit she prophesied, "And His mercy is upon them that fear Him from generation to generation". (Luke 1:50) That is exactly what happened to the woman in John chapter eight!  His mercy triumphed!

Maybe you would like to tap into the amazing mercy of the "Great I Am" also?  It's a time for His love for you to triumph over accusations and condemnation!  It's time for the Light of Life to be manifested in your life to push out all darkness!  Let life be conceived in your life today!  It's simply receiving the gift from Heaven named Jesus (or "Yeshua" in Hebrew) who is life.  That's what Mary did as she said "Yes" to God.  That's what the adulteress woman did as she let go of the old life and received the new one!  There is nothing too great He can't forgive!  He came to give life and life more abundantly!  Now, that's the rest of the Christmas story!

What breakthrough do you for THIS year???  Send me your prayer requests so we can come into an agreement with you!

Thank you for your support this year in prayer and in your giving!  We have been able to empower widows around the world and give fresh hope and purpose!

Consider sponsoring a widow to the annual " He's My Valentine" widows party coming up February 10th!  Holidays can be very lonely  for widows by death of spouse, by divorce or single by circumstance. (James 1:27 commands us to care for them.)  Anna's Gate believes in teaching how to look at your cup not half empty but as an opportunity for God to fill it overflowing...and our Valentines event does just that!  This would make a great Christmas gift too!
